Has a Spartan-IV Ever Actually Lost A Fight?

Ruling out circumstances where a Spartan-IV has fought and beaten another Spartan-IV, and ruling out cases where a Spartan-IV “aLmOsT” lost a fight, but was saved by some outside force.

In general engagements you have Mountain Squad, Fireteam Castle, and Paul Demarco who were all killed by Covenant remnant forces. Close quarters confrontations I can’t think of too many off the top of my head. Obviously you have the “grand” showdown between Master Chief and Locke where the latter was understandably incapacitated during his go at the Chief. I need to go back and read more on the various personal fights SIVs have been part of. I know Frank Kodiak was unable to kill or really injure N’tho 'Sraom in their energy sword duel despite being earnest about it.

Spartan-IVs don’t appear to have the same quantity or severity of training as their predecessors underwent. I think their armour was described as being calibrated to account for shortcomings in combat that the SIIs and SIIIs didn’t experience.

Ummm Locke lost to the Chief in H5… that would be the most obvious example. Other than that, A Spartan-IV from Fireteam Majestic was killed in Escalations. Not to mention Buck arrested Mickey after he betrayed Alpha-9.

Didn’t DeMarco sacrifice himself? I’m not sure that that counts.

He did. Although the explosion looked as if a Banshee collided with the gun emplacement he was using.

I highly suggest reading New Blood and Bad Blood then, if you haven’t already. Without spoiling anything, the H3 ODST cast is still very much involved in the current Halo story.

Well an engagement that hasn’t been brought up is Thorne fighting Gek 'Lhar. It was in a Spartan Ops episode. The fight was pretty BA, but Thorne was bested, however, before he was killed Fireteam Majestic saved him, here’s the video.

Ok, I’ll try and get those, and I’ve only read the books up to the Cole protocol (which I still think Adriana-111 and ignatio Delgado should’ve been together), so I’ve been meaning to read the others

Well you have Vladimir Scruggs who betrayed the UNSC and was killed by Sarah Palmer, he got tackled and tried to defend himself and got stabbed in his neck so I would say he lost a fight though it was with another 4.

Not only this, but Thorne being caught in general.

Also Fireteam Crimson being captured.

Exactly what I was thinking

Well Thorne was caught because he was teleported by the Artifact firstly without knowing, and without weapons. After he arrived he fought back valiantly but he was attacked by an Elite from behind. How was he suppossed to think rationally after learning thet people who were on New Phoneix at the time of the Didact’s attack (such as his family & friends) were actually composed and transformed into Knights?

Secondly, Crimson were captured after facing insurmountable odds. It says on Halopedia (because I personally can’t remember) that they stumbled into a trap without knowing and were swarmed by Banshees, Phantoms, and a CRS-light cruiser.

My point is that both were captured by being swarmed, by Elites in Thorne’s case, and by Covenant air vehicles and a cruiser in Crimson’s case.

I did say, in my O.P, that we’d be ruling out Spartan versus Spartan events.

Ah my bad didn’t see that until just now but I have another idea even though it comes from Halo Wars I think it would still count, Red Team were all killed by Atriox in a cutscene in that game. Oh wait those were 2s never mind on that one but yeah my bad.

How they’re defeated or lost a fight doesn’t really matter. In the end, all losses come down to being overwhelmed or being unprepared.

So, basically a match between the quality of the S-II’s training vs the quality of the S-IV armor and tech.
