At first I was in denial that the DMR was a little powerful as it was the first weapon I purchased with my spartan points. At this point in the game, it is clear that it is a little too powerful. At least to me, and it appears to many others as well.
It wins a majority of engagements and is the most preferred weapon. Or so it seems.
Has 343 confirmed or denied that the DMR is an issue?

They ought to, but don’t expect them to.
The DMR has been proven to be the most overpowered precision weapon in the game. It renders all of the other precision weapons in the game useless, aside from the occasional zoomed-in LR.
Using the LR makes no sense unless you’re engaged in long-range combat.
The weapon balance in this game is, undoubtedly, in serious trouble.
The Boltshot’s range is also ridiculous. How is it that a secondary weapon has the ability to kill enemies in one-shot from longer distances than shotguns and scattershots?
Unbelievable, really. Who tested this game? That’s what I REALLY want to know.
until very recently I was in your camp, but I’ve come to realize that once you get a lot of practice in with a different gun (in my case the BR) you can easily beat someone with a DMR.

This is untrue unless the both of you are not fighting each other starting with full shields at close/mid-range.

That because, and as much as I hate to admit it, this games sandbox is in shambles.
I’m either walking around the corner into an invisible dude, a boltshot, or a plasma pistol. Or even better: and invisible dude with Boltshot or plasma pistol. This game has brought a lot of fun things to a halt because of some poorly implemented guns and bad choices. Nobody even glances in the warthogs direction anymore. A powerhouse like the mantis isn’t worth a damn in most cases because a spawn weapon can dispatch them in five seconds.
Honestly, this game does need some work. I’m sorry to admit it.

Reduce the firing rate of the DMR so it kills slower than a BR, but can do so at greater range. Automatically fixed since the argument is its ability to outperform others in mid and close range, which is supposed to be the weapon’s weakness.
Power down the Boltshot’s secondary fire so it does the shield-busting damage of a Plasma Pistol charge and give it a low-grade scope in primary fire so its ability as a close range headshot weapon can be worth it to more people.
You do these two things and the two weapons which stick out of line as OP loadout weapons are fixed. All the others are largely fine, with each being dominant in different niche environments or fighting styles but lacking all-around domination (in the DMR’s case) solo offensive power in a secondary (in the case of the Boltshot).
