Has 343 learned from 5 ?

So ive just played my first game on prospect and man is that a good map. Exactly what I had in mind when I heard about Warzone Assault.
This got me thinking about the assault maps and how compared to prospect there pretty poor.

This also got me thinking about Molten which I was surprised to learn is a remix of The Rig.
Molten blows the other remixes like Regret and Edent out of the water.

So my question is do you guys think 343 have learnt how to make better warzone and remix maps or was it just a fluke ?

Remixes and Assault maps are both fairly new concepts to Halo (Warzone Assault maps play similar to Invasion maps, but Reach had half the number of Invasion maps compared to H5’s Warzone Assault maps and the “remix” type deployment of maps was needed to fix that problem), so it’s pretty natural to have a bit of a learning curve on developing those assets.

They definitely learned from Halo 4, no reason to think they won’t learn from Halo 5. Halo 5 isn’t terrible, but things need some tweaks and changes…

As much as I try to give 343i the benefit of the doubt when it comes to making new ideas and features when it comes to Halo, there are certain things that they did with Halo 5 that really cost them a lot of credibility in my eyes. Focusing on Esports as a primary motivation behind Halo 5 was a mistake; Esports for any game shouldn’t forced, they should come to exist through the community and a few sponsored events. No previous Halo game’s MP was made specifically for Esports, and it shows.

H6 will probably just be an expansion of H5 so my hopes aren’t very high. I think 343 does learn from their previous games, but they also make even worse mistakes, so they’ll fix one thing and add in 2 or 3 things that are just awful for the game.

For me personally concentrating on E-sports was the best decision 343 ever made. It forced them to make a fair and balanced sandbox.

Yes unfortunately a lot of the social aspects was lost but after 4 i wasn’t sure if halo had a place in todays market.

But now 343 have a solid foundation to build on. I’m personally ok with Halo 6 only having the smallest of tweaks to gameplay thus freeing up 343 to work on the campaign and the casual aspect missing form 5.

The reason that Eden and Regret are so similar was that they had a time crunch for them. Those maps were in the beta (which was in December 2014), so they were the first remixed maps 343 had completed.

For halo 5 as a whole, I believe they have learned. They learned from halo 4 and made the gameplay outstanding. Unfortunately, the community was way to negative and forgot to acknowledge the good things about halo 4 like the story, content, maps, UI, and unlock system. 343 had no idea what they did right, so they tried to fix everything. Some things worked like the forge and gameplay while others didn’t, like the RNG req system, the UI, and the lack of content.

For halo 5, I believe the community has been better, this time telling 343 what they did wrong AND right. So in other words, yes, I think they have learned from their mistakes.

I don’t think they have. 5 is OK but it not nearly what I had hoped for it to be. If you want, you can see my full opinion on the future of Halo HERE.

Remember when H4 came out and it was abysmal?
and the conversation revolved around
“They are a new studio, give them a chance”
And we asked the question have they learned anything from H4

Then TMCC came out and it was broken
and the conversation revolved around
“they tried to do something huge that was a real challenge give them a chance”
And we again asked the question have they learned anything from TMCC

Then H5 launched and it was bare bones and heavily dependant on microtransactions
and again the conversation revolved around “it’s not bad, you don’t have to buy reqs, it’s “free” dlc”
And here we are once more asking if they’ve learned anything

The answer is no, they haven’t and I’ve got $10 that says when H6 comes out we will be talking about the same thing and asking the same question

They’ve learned the same amount they have from 4, and the MCC, so they will continue their pattern of doing something awesome once for every 2 things they do terribly

One of the only things that will convince me that they have learned from their mistakes is if they get rid of Brian Reed. It would be cool if they could get Joseph Staten back for Halo 6 (though its doubtful).

Well, they did a great job making Halo 4’s campaign but most people didn’t like its multiplayer (I did). Then in Halo 5 they did a good job with multiplayer but most people didn’t like the campaign (though this is most likely because of Microsoft’s meddling). They’ll probably find the right balance in Halo 6.
