HARSHER PENALTIES FOR QUITTING RANKED MATCHES

I pretty much play one playlist: Team Arena. First of all they should change it to objective only game types and remove slayer but thats not the point here

In all ranked playlists, we need waaaaay harsher penalties for quitting matches because the frequency is appallingly high and its so frustrating. I see someone quit AT LEAST once every 2-3 games

This screws up the entire game and worst of all it happens to my team way more often than the other team. Actually that isnt the worst part- sometimes a bozo will leave even though we are WINNING WTF

I dont even know what the penalties are now bc i never quit but they’re clearly not harsh enough. So if what i listed below is as harsh or less harsh than the current situation then just double the punishments below

Tier 1-Quitting one game automatically gets you a rank demotion (for ex platinum 3–> plat 2) and you are unable to join matchmaking for 60 minutes or more (depending on how many quits you have total)

Tier 2-Quitting another game within 24 hours of being able to matchmake again results in 2 rank demotions and access is denied for 24-72 hours

Tier 3-Quitting a third game within 48 hours of being allowed back in results in a demotion to bronze 1 and get banned for a full week (or more)

Tier 4-Quitting the fourth time within a week of being let back in= permanent ban and no more matchmaking in ranked playlists forever (regardless of a new season starting)

For people who dont quit again within the designated time of being allowed back in, we’ll go by total number of quits per season

3 Quits total- Tier 2 punishment

5 Quits total- Tier 3 punishment

7 Quits total- Tier 4 punishment

This would carry over across all ranked playlists, so for example 3 quits in team arena and 4 quits in swat= BYE BYE FOREVER

This is a fair system that gives quitters more than enough chances to learn from their mistakes and if they wont change then ban them permanently. Of course everytime they quit there should be a message stating the rules and punishment

It also emphazises punishment of consecutive quitters who do it very often but wont miss those who spread out their quitting virus over longer periods of time

343 PLEASE make this change and stop letting these quitters get away with ruining the game for everyone

I don’t like quitting either, but with Halo 5 being in 15th place on Xbox Most Played Games a week ago, and maybe even lower now… that would not work.

You people want this hyper-competitive stuff implemented into the game, and once it is do you know what happens? Well I’ll tell you: the casual fanbase is taken back and no longer wants to play a game where they don’t “feel welcomed”. So that means lower population, longer times to find games, and not as many sales for the next game.

Want to know how I know this? Experience, from both people I know in real life, but also comments from dozens of places throughout the net.

You’re missing something here. This isnt about excluding casuals its about having integrity and finishing what you started and not screwing over other people. Your skill level has nothing to do with it. There are plenty of casuals who finish every game and plenty of “great” players (kd wise) who quit constantly

You might have a point if every playlist were ranked, but as we both know thats not the case. So your argument is invalid because harsher penalties for ranked would make no difference for unranked playlists.

Casuals can play unranked if they dont want the larger penalty and be fine with it thus having no impact on the player population.

The problem is, how can you tell they quit or lagged and got disconnected. As you said in your post, Actually that isnt the worst part- sometimes a bozo will leave even though we are WINNING WTF, they probably got disconnected. I agree, quitting is not right! If there was a way to tell, then yes a harsher banning system would do just fine!

NO. And here’s why. Halo is becoming way too competitive and often it’s hard for casual gamers like myself. So having super harsh punishments when you quit? That’s going to make it a whole lot worse. What if a casual has a bad game, decides to quit (not that I’m encouraging this) and then gets banned for a week. Casual Halo players are going to hate Halo and it’s going to lose more, and more fans. And permanent ban? That’s ridiculous. There are also special circumstances where the servers have a glitch and boot you. Is that your fault? No. Should you be banned for a week because of it? No. Also, my little brother thinks it’s funny to turn the internet off when I’m in the middle of playing. Getting banned for that would really stink. Though “stink” isn’t strong enough.

343 industries can definitely tell.

Just like in destiny if someone takes out their ghost and goes to orbit they quit. If they get kicked/lagged out it says error code beaver or whatever.

These companies all track this data. They can tell if you manually quit or if you closed from dashboard or got lagged out. So if lagged out no penalty if anything else penalty

I beg to differ from you. Have you read the mega thread. THE OFFICIAL HALO 5 “WHY WAS I BANNED?” THREAD People have been banned for getting disconnected. So as far as I am concerned they cannot tell if you quit or lagged out.

Competition is great but if I get banned for 48 hours because I kept getting disconnected I’d be pissed. I would trade that game in and be done with it forever. lol I can’t say I’ve never quit a game. I don’t like to. Doesn’t matter what the score is. However, I think the ban system is fine now. Get disconnected. Get banned from Warzone for a few minutes. In the meantime I’ll go play Arena and hope I don’t get disconnected there. It’s not an ideal system but I think it promotes staying until the end so you don’t get banned. Some people just don’t care if they are banned for a few minutes. It is what it is.

Too bad the unranked playlists are still secretly ranked, and if they quit they’ll still get banned. Look it up on youtube, it’s true.

Just bc they say they were disconnected doesnt mean its actually true

Even if it is true, its not anyone else’s fault they have bad internet so if they know that then they should stick to unranked where the penalties would be less

This is the point! they are unable to tell if it is a disconnect or not. -Yoink!- server kick people out all the time. You can not assume that it is the players internet that is causing the issue. Telling people to stick to a different play list, will also lower the play list, so that’s not right!

Disconnect from one game, lose ~3 game’s worth of work?
Disconnect from 2 games in 24 hours, get banned from matchmaking for up to 3 days?
Disconnect/Quit 3 times in 72 hours and get banned from matchmaking for up to a week?

Yeah that’s a disaster waiting to happen.

Quitting takes away 30 CSR and tallies up your quits, I think it’s fine. Granted, I never get quitters. In the higher ranks no one quits, it seems like a Diamond 3 and lower thing from what I’ve seen on my alts.

The point is harsher penalties. It doesnt have to be exactly what i suggested, it just has to be strong enough to dissuade people from quitting

Everyone acts like disconnects happen more often than quitting when someone leaves a game. I highly doubt thats the case

Depending on their internet, it very much can happen.

If penalties get too harsh, quits turn into dropping the game entirely, and Halo 5 can’t afford to lose more people.

People will quit, no matter what. Dissuading people only goes so far. The only way they can really prevent quitting is by forcibly removing the Quit button, and even that won’t work.

Yea im platinum 3 and I would be diamond by now if i didnt get so many quitters and bad players on my team

Im the best like 80% of the time and it just sucks i deserve to rank up just keep getting held back by these nitwits
