I’ve seen alot of posts with people requesting jackal shields for use in halo 4, I think they that you should be able to wield single handed weapons with the shield and add the ability to bash opponents with the shield if they get too close.
I think that would too much like the Riot or Assault shield from CoD. It’d be fine if we could use a Jackal shield and only be able to use our secondary. You can’t fire with it if you have Firepower on, assuming that will be included in the next game.
What’s with the sudden desire to wield a Hardlight Shield as a weapon nowadays?
Hey, if it’s balanced, I’m all for it.
Yeah I would love to be able to pick up a jackals Shield and use it,but I would like to see it as a campaign/spartan ops only item. Keep it out of multiplayer for canonical/balancing reasons.
That’s what I’m saying. You should also be able to plant it to form one of those stationary shield barriers.

I don’t see this ever being necessary and I haven’t seen any demand for it either.
What’s wrong with the Hardlight Shield that suddenly makes people want an upgrade? I’m confused, the HLS is easily among the most balanced things that 343i has added to Halo.
Hard light shield needs to be improved but it’s not with such improvements, at least not now, I think.
The activation time. Could be improved, specially after throwing grenades. Have it actually work against mêlée. And have the hit box on it actually work properly. Being able to jump/crouch. Things like that.
That sounds horribly overpowered, OP.
Just freaking play Call of Duty if you want a shield that doesn’t have a battery limit.
Idea’s like this is why halo is going in the wrong direction.
Would you prefer or not prefer a hardlight shield that was breakable, like turning red then bursting when shot at, but on the flip side allowed shield regeneration while using?
Honestly, the HLS is fine the way it is. Sometimes things don’t need to change when it already does exactly as intended. Granted, I wish for a few things, but they are not exactly deemed necessary. Like maybe moving a bit faster if having a certain mod active like the Gunner mod with the mounted machine gun turret.

Even with a pistol this would allow a fairly average user to sustain damage and then use the shield to break up the damage only to get a headshot. An assault rifle would cause a similar situation I feel (aside from being clunky as hell to control).

But how can this be more OP than a pocket-shotgun as a loadout weapon?
It sounds like a fun idea, but IMO only for Halo 5. Right now the shield is pretty much balanced.

Because a shield that can be equipped as a full active weapon slot item that can repel even a buckshot back at the attacker would be more overpowered than a shotgun in your pocket.

Big Team Skirmish: Enemy Scorpion shoots me, I hardlight, it rebounds into enemy Warthog. SO MUCH WIN!
