Bow -a weapon for shooting arrows, typically made of a curved piece of wood joined at both ends by a taut string.
Arrow -a weapon consisting of a thin, straight stick with a sharp point, designed to be shot from a bow.
This is my new weapon idea, for the Promethean Ecumene.
Hard Light Bow
The hard-light bow is to be a counter-part to the UNSC Spartan Laser (Laser) and Covenant Plasma Launcher (Grenades) charged based munitions weaponry… The unique thing about this weapon is, it is a beam-based charged weapon… like the Halo: Reach Focus Rifle, or Halo 3 Sentinel Beam.
The weapon fires a concentrated beam of hard-light energy at the intended target which grows in power and incinerates them, over a short time… probably about 5 seconds.
Picture this a bow… which is Forerunner in design, has blue hardlight flowing down the arches and down the chamber, and projects a blue, orange, green based beam… colours of light.
The reticule would be a triforce type symbol which upon initiating the firing of the weapon, it starts spinning outward, as the beam gets larger and more powerful.
While an interesting idea, I must ask… Why not just bring back the Sentinel Beam instead?
Don’t get me wrong though, I do quite like the idea. It would be an interesting take on the classic bow, although I’m not convinced that it would fit in with the established Forerunner design.

Glamor issues. Holding a big bulky laser is so 2007.

I’m diggin’ the look man. But my question is, how do you think people would react if they found a super advanced civilization was using bows? Its a great concept but I don’t know man…
I’m not against the idea. I’d definitely like to see a Forerunner counter to the Splazer and PL.
But how’s about we make it that the bow is actually a giant hard light blade that was coincidentally shaped like a bow? Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. That’s a good enough excuse for it to make sense if you ask me. We know Forerunners use Hard light blades based on what we’ve seen from the Knights.
The blade wouldn’t have to affect game play. It’d just be a clever excuse for it’s shape.

This. People.
We’re dealing with Forerunner’s here. I.E. A hyper-advanced race of demi-gods with a ten million year old civilization who played billiards with planets for kicks and giggles, routinely constructed planet-dwarfing artificial superstructures, and whose civilization was powered by sucking the energy out of fledgling “Big-Bangs” in alternate dimensions.
If there was a bow to be found among them, it would only be because someone, somewhere, had a quaint taste for such things as a hobby/art making project. Under no circumstances would it be a weapon of war.
It’s… well… as I once said when someone ventured the idea of a Forerunner tank.
“Certainly, the Forerunners should have a tank. It’s just that in their language, tank means: ‘My class twenty combat skin and/or War Sphinx.’”
A bow doesn’t really fit the Forerunner aesthetic in my opinion.
A Forerunner Splaser should be a variant on the sentinel beam, faster charge up time than the Spartan laser but it fires a continuous beam instead of a single shot.
I kind of realized 343 missed the boat on some of the creative weapons in Halo 4. They could really do amazing stuff with Promethean weapons.
Covenant Plasma launcher didn’t return, really no covenant explosive gun. Guns like the Mauler and spiker (I recognize those are brute weapons) added a little more variety. You could be seriously creative though with forerunner weaponry.
I guess I don’t really have any specifics here but…I’m really hoping they massively expand the weapon sandbox. Even if not all the weapons are even used in MM.
It’s a cool idea. However, I don’t think “Forerunner” when I hear the word bow. When I think forerunner, I think of blocky floating components that glow.

I like this design except when it fired it’s not a laser. (Too many laser style weapons in my opinion) I think it should actually be a little different
imagine pulling out a orange version of the Image above. And it has a small charge in the center where the arrow comes out like the splazer, Then you aim it, but since we keep it as the counter part to the splazer so we have a charge time (pulling back the arrow) then releasing it (it transforms into a bigger arrow coming out of the bow. Promeatheans weaponry transforms in your hands so why not have an arrow that grows to a certain extent as it’s traveling out of the bow. The arrow would be an instant kill like the splazer, and I think the physics of it should be like the sniper, the arrow can travel through multiple people. Killing them.
Also another idea would be like the same as above but with an optional chage time and the longer you hold it the more damage will be given.
