So I’m usually a lone wolf kind of player throughout every FPS game I’ve come across in my gaming career. Although I do have friends, for the most part I just want to play alone and just wreck on my own, you know? But it seems that joining a Spartan Company for team play and communication is going to be a big part in Halo 5 since the only way to increase your rank is by winning and not by how well you, the individual do in that specific game. (If I’m not mistaken) Obviously you’ll have a better chance at succeeding to these high ranks if you have teammates which you are able to communicate with so where does that leave the players who just want to play alone but also increase in rank? I guess pray you get paired up with more than decent players that won’t be the reason your back hurts from carrying them to victory. Maybe create a Spartan Company for lone wolves that still want to play alone but want a Spartan Company for the REQ bonus, etc?
Well let’s see how this game plays out; looking forward to Halo 5 nonetheless even though I haven’t played much of the last Halo games but I’m ready and excited to start my new Halo journey in just a few days!
I think this will always be the case. At least until 343 adds in a proper algorithm for matching lone wolves with lone wolves. Granted, Halo 5 needs a healthy and large population for that to really work and have decent matchmake times.
That may end up being the case regardless if they did put in some form of algorithm to pair up solo players with other solo players.
The best usual are done in teams. Unless you can communicate with your team well enough, you may not reach the top.
Alot of mic-less LW are out there, so I’d imagine you’ll be matched accordingly.
Do join a company, free req pack and hopefully you find some folks in your timezone.
Personally I find this change frustrating, however it gives a bigger incentive to actually try to win.
This isn’t just Halo 5, this is all Halo since xbox live. Halo multiplayer has always used multiple mechanisms to bias the game in favor of team-oriented play and players. This won’t be the first Halo ranking system to assess individual players on team performance. Personally, I refuse to let game design coerce me into a different play style than the one I’ve developed over the years and which seems “right” to me. If they want to arbitrarily reward someone else’s style of play while simultaneously penalizing mine then so be it. But they don’t own me, they didn’t pay for copy of the game, and I’ll be strung up before I let them tell me how to play it.
Yeah, I have created a Spartan Company with my friends, but they’re all SCRUB noobs!!! that won’t play too often. So Hopefully the random groups i find by myself are of equal skill and all use mics!
