Hey everyone, I’ve come to the Waypoint forums to propose a new Game-type for Multiplayer Matchmaking;
Hardcore Infection(Survival).
Survival is an Infection based game, the objective is to defend Zombies like normal infection, but find weapons along the way to aid your Survival; Hence the name.
“The dead rise once more, only worse than before. Scavenge your surroundings for equipment, and you might make it out alive.”
Max Party Size: 12
Max Local Players: 4
Human Objective: Survive the Zombie horde for 6 minutes.
Side Objective: Find weapons scattered around the map to aid your survival.
Infected Objective: Kill the survivors.
The weapons I’ve set down in my little “Beta” map on Powerhouse are set in specific areas, and have specific purposes; Like making up for another weapons loses.
For example, the Grenade launcher is designed for killing a Infected hiding around a corner when he/she and his/her team is trying to get by. It’s a perfect way for clearing corners, and maybe clearing a small group of Infected if you’re lucky. But it lacks in range, and if the Grenade launcher user has more than two Infected running at him from a distance, he’ll only be able to take about two out before being cut down, the Grenade launcher lacks in range.
Another example, is the Sniper Rifle. Using the Sniper will allow you to give covering fire to your Team as they move in to secure certain equipment, or areas to use as a temporal base. But, using the Sniper only allows the user to kill on enemy a shot, and if there’s an enemy around the corner, he doesn’t have a good chance of survival. The Sniper Rifle lacks in CQC.
Now lets put them together.
You have a Sniper giving the Grenade Launcher covering fire, as he moves up to take out the Hostile infected at a closer range. They make up for one another’s down sides, thus allowing them to survive quite a while with just two people.
Combos like these will be used throughout the Game-Type, allowing the Survivors to survive, and defend themselves against the incoming horde.
That’s Hardcore Infection(Survival).
Starting Weapons
Human starting weapons: Assault Rifle.
Infected starting weapon: Energy Sword.
What we don’t have
No grenades, no starting Precision weapons, and no Power Ups.
There is a random Mongoose I put on the Beta map though.
How the Weapons work
Very basic, the weapons are scattered around the map in a giant circle. This makes players have to move around the map, allowing the infected to build their army a little; allowing them to have a 50/50 chance.

The maps would have to be customized specifically for Hardcore Infection, just like there’s custom maps for normal Infection.

What I’m hoping this would do
In the end, the game would come out to a Teamwork based game; Instead of the average lone wolf, run and gun kind of Game-types. It’d be far similar to other Team based games, like Left 4 Dead, where you actually need your Team in order to survive.
