I don’t talk either for the same reason. If there was an option to easily and quickly mute people then maybe I’d consider it, but I have no idea if I can even mute at all.
I don’t think there is an option to mute/unmute. I’ve tried to mute a few people playing music through their mic and I can’t find any UI to even do it in-game.
Ok ok yeah I thought you meant it with the emote. Lol. I was double checking.
This. Omfg this. You’re playing ranked. You’re playing sweats. Communication is key. I’d be onyx 1900 in solo/duo if I wasn’t the only one making callouts.
What’s even more frustrating is being dead, warning a player there’s a one shot flanking them, watch them react and clean it up before they’re 2v1’d, and then go on living life like that comm didn’t matter.
In settings there is deafultly not allowed Open mic. I played for three days with mic and players didn’t react on me. I was confused as well. Then a friend told me what to check. I suppose this should be the problem.
I noticed that over the years I stopped talking in the mic myself to the point where I don’t even have it on when I play anymore. I miss the days where every game was full of talking people, but it’s been like this for years now, before the xbox one even came out.
I think one thing people aren’t doing either is pinging. Something they’ve clearly copied from Warzone is pings. There’s a -Yoink!- achievement for it as well, but people don’t use pings.
For what it’s worth, up on the D-pad marks a ping on the map.
I use mine. I assume most people are in private lobbies. I know I always jump into ranked with a full team so coms are not an issue.
I personally love smack talking my team that is playing Slayer during a CTF, Stockpile or Oddball match. I love getting that text chat popping up on the top right telling me to shut up. I makes me happy that I can annoy the people who not only can’t play objective but also can’t find the mute button.
99% of the time when others have their mics on were able to have group up and make a few good plays. But that 1% really brings me back to the good old days of Halo 3 days on Xbox live and brings out my inner child.
I’d honestly rather get a lobotomy than hear someone “they’re on B” again
I have a headset and talk with friends in Xbox party, but with randoms, let’s be honest, 90% of the team isn’t playing the objective anyway, so why even bother
Lol okey I guess now I know why people don’t use a mic. Didn’t know there was so much people against it.
I find comms to be extremely important in ranked games. There has been a bunch of times I did not died bc my teammate told me that someone was coming from behind or a sniper was in certain area, or bc we pushed together an objective, etc.
But that’s just my opinion. I guess I’m an old timer.
I think this says more about how social gaming has changed over the years, people just became more comfortable without using a mic, mostly because back in the day when you’d attempt to speak there was always abuse being thrown around and it put you off
I do hope something like Spartan Companies return for Infinite to ignite that social presence in the game.
I think of using my mic, but then I realize if I’m not careful, especially with some frustrating parts of the game, I’ll say something I’ll regret.
Or
I’m in a party talking to friends using my phone for party chat.
Or
I don’t want to sit in a game talking to myself, because as you’ve pointed out, people don’t seem to be using mics.
This is what happened to me.
I agree with what you are saying, but the way I was spoken to, I’m not going to use the mic. If I was down the street or out somewhere with my husband and somebody spoke to me like I was spoken to, I can only imagine what he would do to them.
Would a better way to report n ban guys that are verbally toxic convince yall to use mics? If it was a actually proper effective system to remove these bad fate actors
