ok first, this isn’t me loving the DMR, it needs to be weakened (by making it a 5 shot kill, i don’t know). I personally don’t like the BR, it usually ended up being the dominant gun in the game (for me at least) I was never able to combat it with anything other than a BR or power weapon, so having a gun like the DMR to use instead of the BR is nice (judging the BR was the reason I don’t like multiplayer)
I like having a single fire UNSC utility rifle as well, but it definitely doesn’t feel balanced in the sandbox, and I don’t like it being so easy to use at such a long range as a spawn weapon.
If you want Halo 1 and Halo 2 game play you must do the following as those games had.
No precision starting weapons. All precision weapons as pick ups.
This will make players face off to each other, and create a more fun and entertaining game as they were.
DMR is way to overpowered for a spawn gun.

The DMR already is a 5 shot kill
lol. That is all I can say.
I do like the DMR, but the issue I have isn’t the power, it’s the range. If I have a sniper, and keep getting pinged from a guy at half field in Ragnarok who’s just spawned with a DMR, there’s a problem.
So, DMR = good gun, but way too focused spray. I think they were trying to make it a good contender against BR in SWAT, but you shouldn’t change a gun for one gametype.

Really? I thought it was 4 Shot, goes to show how much I care about halos multiplayer
I too prefer a single-shot rifle to the BR’s burst fire. It just feels better to me. Of course, it shreds shields and kills a little too fast. I’ll fully admit that. I love the gun’s function, but support toning it down just a bit.
Still, the problems people have with the DMR go back to other issues in my opinion. If descoping was still in, the DMR would be less of a problem. If I’m shooting a guy halfway across the map and he shoots me at the same time, we get descoped. When I quickly rezoom and hit him again just as he hits me and we’re again descoped, I bet we’re both going to think it’s futile and try to find closer targets or head towards one another. If a guy is two shots from crossmapping me and a teammate flanks him, their shots should cease his ability to shoot that far and I could get to cover. Descoping is part of the problem.
The other annoying thing for me is sprint getting slowed down when you’re shot. That’s not just a DMR thing, but, in BTB or CTF, if two or more opposing players are shooting you, you’re essentially unable to move. I understand the idea behind putting it in, the perception of “losing a near kill” is negative to some, but I think it’s terribly frustrating in practice. From the shooter’s perspective, if it didn’t exist and your target sprinted into cover, maneuver to get a new angle on him. If you can’t get a direct shot, pin him down so a teammate can get him. From the target’s POV, it’s frustrating to slow to that molasses speed and, since this is mostly a BTB issue, that means it’s likely a DMR doing it to you and people associate it with that. It’s more an issue of that mechanic than the gun itself to me. I’m a busy body of a player, I want to move around maps and will no matter what. For some, though, if they can get kills sitting still and never moving, they will. For others, if they’re more K/D conscious than me, they’re not going to risk ever leaving cover. All this does is keep people sitting back instead of keeping the combat dynamic.
The amount of times your reticle position says you missed a shot, but you got a kill is also a problem. The DMR is hitscan I believe, so I’m unsure how that occurs, but I’ve found myself being reckless with my aim and the shots still landing. Plus, that sticky reticle. Granted it giveth and it taketh away, but it’s bad either way. Also, I liked the slower firing speed and more methodical approach you had to take with bloom. (I know, call me Judas.) You couldn’t spam fire with it and I think that’s a good thing.
The DMR absolutely could require one or two more shots to do its thing, but it’s these ancillary issues that are more of a problem than the DMR itself.
You are happy about the main thing killing Halo? smh

I’m happy it’s not just the BR which dominated anyway, the BR was the go to weapon and if they nerf the DMR that’s better

Hey come check out my channel it has Halo 4 commentaries on it http://www.youtube.com/user/MrDanboy55667?feature=mhee
How about making it 6 shot, reduced range? Something like that, 7 shot would make it lose way to much ammo
Only power weapons should have that range. Map the DMR & LR map pickups/Personal Ordnance. Make players find the guns, or earn them. Solves the balancing issue Imo.
Its an easy gun to use, compared to Halo Reach’s version. But I did start to really want a single shot UNSC weapon since I got really into Halo 3. You had a burst shot and a fully automatic, why not a single shot that wasn’t a pistol.
The DMR, doesn’t feel like it belongs. It was in there to replaces the BR, and did well. I feel like if the DMR was brought back the Needle Rifle should’ve been brought back as well.
