Background: I’ve played every Halo game but never have played their multiplayers in hardcore fashion. Just a little bit here and there but never have been hardcore in to them.
First, loved the beta. I really enjoyed it and will miss it dearly.
Pros: Love the new/semi-new abilities; Sprint, thrust, clamber, and Spartan slam (sorry if I got the names wrong.) I found they made the game more fun than previous Halos. I like the SR leveling system. Keeps me coming back to see what armors I can unlock. I’m a believer in the “carrot on the stick” method of giving gamers something to work towards and the SR leveling system works for me. I like the ADS on all the weapons. Controls are tight. Graphics and audio are pretty good with occasional frame drops here and there but nothing too horrible. Hope you guys push for 60fps over 1080p resolution. Constant frame rate is more important than resolution. I love the intro/outro teammates high fiving and celebrating. I like the calling out of the medals during the game (reversal, snapshot, etc.) Makes me feel like a badass.
Cons: I really dislike the skills leveling system (silver, gold, onyx, etc.) and how you are negated points when you lose even if you performed well. I have never screamed in anger so much at a game as in the Halo 5 beta because someone decide to leave mid match and knew it meant that I would lose points towards ranking up because it’s almost impossible to win a match being a man down (yes, I know it can be done but still…) Which leads me to my next frustration; no joining games in progress. Say what you will to justify it but I find it ridiculous that this game does not have joining games in progress. Maybe I wouldn’t care so much if I where not penalized in rank for losing. Anyway, I just know I did not enjoy losing and dropping rank because my team was outnumbered. If not adding in-game progress then consider not penalizing players so much when playing a man down. Anyway, just know it really pissed me off to go down in rank because my teammates bailed on me.
Anyway, just wanted to share my thoughts from someone who is not so hardcore at playing Halo online. I really enjoyed the beta and can’t wait for the game to come out at the end of the year. It will definitely be my go-to game for playing online.
Good feedback. But I’ve screamed louder in H2A when I lowered a rank, than when I lost in H5G. But the ranking isn’t perfect yet, so I hope they fix it.

Hopefully the solution to your problem will be the division of social and ranked playlists. where in ranked you receivev the iron/bronze/silver etc and your SR, but in social only SR is gained. Join in progress is bad for ranked games, just as quitting is, the solution is to implement something that dissuades qutting out, like a major rank loss or temporary ban from searching
