This is not a thread discussing gameplay, but rather of how the development team and the community should handle the gametype.
First off is availability. In Halo 3, infection felt more special in some ways (in MM of coarse). It didnt last forever. This may seem to be a downside, but it made me anticipate for the next Double XP weekend that featured infection, and when it finally came about, it was unimaginably exciting. It brought some of the most outrageous fun and memories in my time of gaming (only remotely rivaled by driving a motorcycle off of a very tall building in GTA IV hehe). In reach it was made available 24/7. Yes it is the most populated playlist at any given time, but it seemed less relevant and not like the exciting event living dead was in Halo 3. Take Gears 3 for example. Epic stays very active with the community by adding a unique playlist every week, similar to what bungie did with double xp weekend. This can help bring the community together and have some serious fun.
Lastly are the maps. In my very honest opinion, default maps aren’t the best choice for design as far as infection goes. Mainly because most if not all the maps made by the developers (not in forge) are not designed with infection in mind. This is why 343i should leave it up to the community to make these infection maps in forge. Or even alter default maps; like deadwalk (boardwalk) for a good example. The community knows just how to make infection maps and gametypes just right (well some of us anyway). This is just what can bring us closer together and share our creations with the entire MM population. What do you guys think.
