Is there any indication that Halo 4 will offer some type of handicap system for custom games?
I often play with family and friends who have different levels of skill and experience and a handicap feature would help level the playing field.
Ideally, I’d like something that allows low-level customization on an individual basis - fine tune damage dealt/received, restrict certain weapons to specific players, etc.
Self-restraint accomplishes much the same thing but it would be nice if everyone could play uninhibited.
I think the trait system does that but better. You can make red team have higher shields and more ammo and better weapon starts and blue team have less damage and maybe slower and bad weapon starts.
then just play blue team and let your friends play red.
for more than them vs you, make different teams have different traits to give them advantages or disadvantages as needed.

That’s very true, hopefully this solves your problem OP
> The Halo 2 handicap system was pretty good, are you looking for something like that?
Yes indeed, I liked the Halo 2 system but it was a little primitive. I’d prefer to have something with greater control.
Beyond my desire for handicapping, I’m sure smarter people than I could come up with some interesting game types if they could tweak weapons and attributes on a player by player basis.
It would be neat if you could edit each player in the lobby’s traits.
But, of course, they’d have to be notified and everyone’d need to be able to compare each other’s traits just in case you’ve got an unfair disadvantage.
Then again, it could ruin custom games forever. Who knows?

Honestly, I don’t know why it was dropped from the series. I thought it was a smart idea and missed it greatly when playing Halo 3 and Reach.
