Anyone else find the hidden log at the beginning of the second mission? (Its in the section of the ship that has a dead elite in it I think.)
What do you guys think the log means? Possible hint that SPOILER Cortana possibly survived the ending or that she wasn’t going rampant?

NOT going rampant, but evolving into something similar to a Contender Class AI. Think about it, she has directly interacted with Covenant and Forerunner AI and even was captive by the Gravemind for months.

Contender Class AIs are conglomerate AIs, they are hundreds of AIs working together to be brighter and more intelligent. The Gravemind is also a conglomerate entity, upon meeting with Medicant Bias, it told it it should join him and they would be the new super beings in the galaxy.
It makes sense that Cortana, a self evolving AI, would evolve in accordance to her encounters with these beings.

It’s the classic, she is doing things she was never supposed to be able to do type thing. Like that all human made AI’s have a thing in them that terminates them before they go rampant. Cortana some how got rid of hers but she shouldn’t have been able to.

What I take from this is that Cortana could not be terminated in the same way as other smart AIs. The viral termination code likely refers to a fail safe that will be triggered if an AI begins to become rampant. Somehow, being created from living tissue allowed Cortana to disable the code and as such, may be able to last longer than other AIs.

I think Cortana already did that. You DONT think she was more of a person in H4? Previous Halo games she was SO much more just analytical, in H4, she is more emotional and more like a person than a computer.

I was thinking this at first, but I also realized that it could just be 343I changing her.I only think this because they made the Chief speak more in the first 2 missions then he spoke in all of the previous games.
