Halsey + Cortana

I was just wondering, what was Cortana’s and Dr. Halsey’s relationship like? Was it like a mother to a daughter or what?

Snarky girlfriends.

They probably got tired of each other. Since, you know, it would be like looking into a mirror and talking to yourself in a lot of ways.

Well, in the Fall of Reach, Halsey remarks to herself that she is very impressed by Cortana, and very much reminded of herself. Cortana was the fastest, and most efficient AI, though sometimes she would get distracted by what she sees/learns, though Halsey admits that she used to do the same. The relationship was more like seeing Deja Vu before your eyes. More intriguing for Halsey, rather than frustrating.

It was based off LOVE. Love isn’t some pseudo science bull. It’s real. It can be applied anywhere, and the writers also believed this.

I would assume it was more, if any, like a mother to daughter. Dr. Halsey is in love with her work (although she has deep regrets and remorse for the things she has done) which includes Cortana (an AI created by Dr. Halsey’s flash clone) and her Spartans. They are all her “children.” This is partially why she does not like the idea of another group of Spartans. She constantly remarked that she did NOT like the Spartan 3 program created by one of her enemies (politically) because they were created for one purpose - to be disposable. Hope this answers your question. The Halo books are a fun read, you should give them a chance…specifically the Eric Nylund books = Halo: Fall of Reach, Halo: First Strike, and Halo: Ghosts of Onyx. It is ok to skip Halo: The Flood, almost a copy and paste from the game.

Yea im ordering them. I have always wanted to read them.

I always looked at it like Halsey thought of her as a Child, but Cortana thought of her as an unfortunate effect of her creation xD
