Halo's Stealth Factor

Ok, so in every Halo game, there always seems to be that one stealth sniping mission. They’re a lot of fun, but the stealth factor isn’t. I’m sure this has been brought up quite a lot so I’ll keep it brief. The sniper in Halo games are just to darn loud. They almost always alert enemies real quick. In the scenario they don’t, it’s just not believable to see enemies not react to the loud noise the sniper makes. Solution? A silenced sniper rifle exclusive for campaign. I think exclusive silenced variants of guns would help a lot in stealth campaign missions.

I’ve always liked the stealth missions. I always see how long I can go without being spotted. Normally it’s not that long, but still, I enjoy it.

I agree though. The fact that they are not alerted to the sniper rifle being shot is pretty odd. The silenced rifle would make it seem more stealthy.

On a random note, I also liked the night-vision on the Halo CE sniper rifle. I think that would be pretty cool as well.

I did like that little feature the CE sniper had.

Yes, we should be able to get our stealth on at least in specific missions and situations, and silenced weapons can only help that. More options = more awesome.

I love playing stealth, and would love to see a silenced weapon(s) in the stealth missions of campaign.

Remember ODST?

I’d love to see more “stealth” in “stealth missions”! I always find sneaking around corners and trying to pick people off as quietly as possible to be incredibly enjoyable!

I would say to make the weapons like the ones in ODST, but if I had a quarter for every time I was heard by the enemy when I would start shooting…

There’s a difference between sniping missions and stealth missions. Halo’s stealth mechanic is nonexistent, and even with active camo, you’re still more likely to be spotted than any other game with a stealth mechanic. I love the sniping missions, but it isn’t very accurate to call them stealth missions.

I would love to see lots of places where stealth is optional, but it should NEVER be forced on anybody. I remember when I tried to see how far I could get on ‘The Arbiter’ without getting caught, but I’d always get caught at the hangar because it is literally impossible to stealthily get past it. But yeah, optional stealth would be great.

The CE sniper had a silenced effect that the ODST “silenced” guns are notoriously missing.

Also, if you woke up an enemy and left them be, they’d go back to sleep.

CE was the closest thing to stealth in Halo.

I would love that.

I’m all for it, heck I’d even go “hold some button to go to third person stealth and movement” similar to Deus Ex. It would make a great campaign mechanic. Multiplayer I’m not so sure.

Turns out after some time, all the Covies wake up and start scouting the place. Closest I got to clearing the place, I was down to a few grunts and one elite.

I would really like to see missions on Halo on which stealth is a full option for the missions, instead of shooting everything that gets in the way all the time. ODST got this done pretty well during Mombasa Streets. I would love to see that again.

Pitiful. Artificial sleep began with Halo 3 (there was some of it in Halo 2, but it wasn’t nearly as bad). We need more believable behavior… and less scripting (example of scripted: one Grunt on The Ark always wakes up when you approach him and alerts everyone).

As long as it’s sandbox style and not the game holding my hand (like in some shooters).

Yes, this would be great for Campaign.

Automatic- Silenced SMG

Rifle- Silenced BR

Sniper- Silenced Sniper

Sidearm- Silenced ODST Pistol

All would be great for stealth missions and allow many different approaches to situations.

Votes no, realizes it says only campaign.

It sounds cool, but I still want the ODST smg in multi-player. It could scope.

Weapons with silencer. More Stealth. More assassination movements. I liked. You have all my support.
