is it just me or does everyone online spam the grenade button whenever posible it drives me insanse because the grenades are to overpowered once in a while is ok like across map or around a corner but you don’t need to point blank a frag grenade I think that the grenades should be toned down a bit power wise or there range and that kills should be by skill level and acuracy not who has can hit grenade first.
I agree 100%
grenades in reach crazy even with faster walking speeds. I’m surprised there has been a petition about them yet. they need some fixing.
Ok, OP, when you cite “skill level” I can say for sure that you are talking about a very particular kind of skill which you’d prefer be favored in this grenade happy situation. IE. shooting people in the face, but like shooting people in the face throwing a grenade is not the same as pressing a “smite enemy” button. You need to time, to lead, and to plot a trajectory, none of which you have to consider with the DMR or Sniper, for example, which at the very least puts chucking a death-potato as an equivalent of gun-play.
Which leaves you with nothing. “Skill” as an objective quality is not favored by nerfing grenades because all that entails is a proportional shift between two subjective qualities of skill. Nothing is, in fact, changed about the game, save for how well you can enjoy it. And that’s certainly a valid argument to make, too many grenades can make the game overly frustating which partially defeats it’s purpose, but do qualify your arguments correctly lest you find more posts like this from -Yoinks!- like me (if not in fact me.)
I think they need a longer fuse, but regardless either way people will always spam nades. I mean why bother shooting when you can just hit a button to kill your opponents way faster then your guns could

The term “guns” does include rockets, snipers, swords, hammers, shotguns, lasers, and plasma launchers…

compared to older halos the grenades travel much faster through the air, have larger blast radius, shorter fuse, and more power at the edge of the splash damage.
you also talk about shifting skill areas in the game. I think halo should emphasize the use guns much more than grenades and the way it is right now there always seems to be at least one player who gets grenades as their tool of destruction at the end of a game.
dont kill me for saying this but i actually kinda want frags to be ampped up cause you play the game on heroic and it will just like tickle the enemy cause it wont even drain a minor elites shields i do see your problem in multiplayer but i barely even use them cause there so underpowered i just find plasmas they will kill anybody within the blast radius.

Much faster? I wouldn’t say that, not with thrown grenades anyway. And we do have fewer grenades (two each verus three or four) than we did previously. That certainly limits their destructive power in ways that your exaggerations (I wouldn’t say that frag fuses are much shorter than they were in Halo 3, either) are not fully expressing.

And that’s entirely a value judgement. You may think Halo should emphasize guns so that no one can possibly end with anything other than, but that’s just your own prefernece, not an objective fact which you can use to convince me that my “we should have more diversified gameplay away from merely shooting people in the face” is wrong since it can only hold true in your world view.

you could carry four frags in halo 2 and two frags in halo 3. both games rarely had problems with people getting most of their kills with grenades.
I guess what bothers me the most is how mush the damage increases as you go further into the center of the blast. it seems like if you are on the very edge of it you lose a quarter of your shield but if you move in just a tiny bit you take an exponentially larger amount. you should only take full damage if you are almost right on top of the grenade but instead you take full damage if you are about 2 body lengths away which is insane.
