Halos glory is gone, for good.

The community has sank to the level where it isn’t salvageable anymore and will be the primary reason why Halo will slowly die.
No matter what 343 does to Halo, it is never good or enough. This is probably because most Halo fans wished, that Halo ended with 3, and now it just seems like endless milking to the most of the community. Halo reached its peak and glory during the main trilogy, that was Halo at its finest and defined it from other FPS titles and made it something unique…

The defining/unique factor is gone now, due to the “evolving” of Halo, even if it is making the game more balanced and so on it isn’t Halo anymore. This is the reason why 343, what ever they do will never be good or enough and why the community is continuously negative and unhappy.

When Halo becomes modernized and “evolved”, it loses the “Halo feel” and there’s the reason why for example the H5 beta has low population ALREADY.
Halo needs to stay as Halo to be revived again, Halo was for a reason the most played console game back in 2004 to 2007.
The communities continuing displeasure and negativity + insanely fast dropping population rate proves it all.

Its sad, that Halo can never go back to being Halo, because it will be “bad for marketing”. If its not easily accessible, where everyone can be “badasses”, the current generation players wont be buying it. Thats why for example COD is so insanely popular even to this day.

I’m sorry in advance, that this topic is a bit all over the place. It was hard to put all my thoughts in one nice package. Hope you understand!

wait now…your blaming the community for the failure of halo?

and here i thought it was the developer who -Yoink- on said community whose fault it was that halo is dying.

Not necessarily blaming, if you read the whole post you would probably understand my point. My point was, that the community loved Halo most during the trilogy phase, but when Halo started strafing away from the Halo formula, people started hating and getting extremely unhappy on the direction where Halo was going and Halo was not Halo anymore. If Halo doesn’t go back to being Halo, the community will slowly drift away and Halo will die. Please read my posts with thought so I don’t have to repeat myself.

I don’t wish the series ended at 3. Otherwise I would never have Halo Wars, ODST and Reach.

I know right.

The community’s been one giant collective piece of -Yoink- for a long time now, ever since Halo 2 came around and people started comparing -Yoinks!- boasting about how pro they were and showboating about their “skills” with a BR. Granted there are some wonderful people out there who are a genuine blast to play with, but they don’t seem like the majority anymore and they are increasingly hard to find.

I don’t know about anyone else, but everything (or almost everything) I’ve seen from Halo 5 I’m liking it. There’s stuff to be fine tuned and improved sure but one could say that about any game that’s so long from release and only in Beta.
This is coming from a devoted fan of the series, not some l337 ultra pro or some crap like that, just a guy who really loved the series Bungie originally gave to us.

Agreed.

Seriously though the community is so split. Games to hard it sucks, Games to easy it sucks, BR starts, AR starts, Competitive ruining halo, Casuals ruining halo. People dont know what they want.

People want Halo 2, And compared to Halo 4, Halo 5 Is much closer then Reach, and 4 were. Seriously

I love halo more then any game i have never be very good at halo. but i enjoyed playing with friends and just enjoying everything. I enjoy ever halo for its own reasons. But even i can say that Reach and halo 4 missed the mark. But when you compare halo 2, and 3 to halo 5 There are very similar, in the way they are played while adding nice new features.

I think whats killing halo Is people dont know what they want. The goes for the whole Community. And i dont think there will ever be a compromise That all parties will enjoy

Lol it’s not that we don’t know what we want. We just don’t want the mediocre features and mechanics that make up CoD and similar generic FPSers plaguing this franchise. Halo was more than capable of contending head-to-head with CoD while being a CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE during its prequel years, retaining its role as being an arena- and tactical-based shooter. It didn’t need to evolve by deviating toward gameplay typical of a twitch-based shooter. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…

Oh and if anyone tries, inb4 Halo 4 sold more copies than Halo 3. Newsflash: it’s called Microsoft hype and it’s nothing new. I’m sure Halo 4 used copies far surpassed used copies of CE, 2 and 3 combined lmao.

Na it’s BR slayer’s fault.

Halo post trilogy is that of a pretty girl with a few too many facial plastic surgeries…wha what happened.

I think most players know exactly what they want. There are just two sides to the battle…unfortunately my side is losing the battle as population numbers have dropped since Reach.

I want a Halo that has an identity. An identity that resembles the original core gameplay mechanics. Weapons + Grenades + Melee.

I don’t want gimmicks, I don’t want sprint, defensive mechanisms such as thrusting, armor locks, or any other junk. I want power up spawns on a map. I want power weapons on a map that must be TIMED by the player…not some announcer that sounds like he’s been kicked in the balls by Adam Venitari. I want small arena style ORIGINAL maps resembling like the old Halo maps…not stupid Forge iterations that have the creativity of a 3rd grader. I want a matchmaking system that incentivizes me to play for years so that I can get a 50 in everything…not max out my level after 10 games. I want a proper Theatre Mode that allows me to take cool screenshots but also save FULL clips…not just the limited 12 recent games you’ve played.

I don’t want a Frankenstein monster that draws inspirations from every other FPS game out there for the sake of appealing to the masses, because you know what…the masses didn’t make this franchise what we made it. The masses don’t possess an original formula that dominated FPS games for 9 years from H1-H3.

I’d love to have an incentive to continue playing. Reaching Pro II after 10 games of the new territories like game type is not very rewarding.

Yeah. BR starts sure killed Halo 2/3 and DMR starts is what killed Reach. Spawning with a weapon that is actually useful. promotes teamwork and requires some skill to use doesn’t ruin a game. If you think it does, you’re delusional. How does dumbing down the game and promoting chaos and randomness over balance while forcing these changes down the throat of a game community whose multiplayer fanbase is predominantly hardcore competitive players help the game?

It doesn’t.

How does Halo 5 have COD mechanics It doesn’t at face value it might seem like it does but the mechanics dont even function the same way at all.
People wanted haloe to move back to the arena style shooter of old and it has Done just that On multiple levels, while still updating mechanics to master to be a good player.

If it aint broke don fix it. mean pump out the same game over and over and over and over and over again Sure that sound like a good strategy. Fact is Halo 5 is what Halo reach should have been Keeping the mechanics of halo 2, and 3, while adding more versatile movement. Only fix i can see is make sprint have a cool down(not infinite, and make shields recharge slightly faster after stopping.

Bull Crap on the last part i would bet used copies of halo 4 and only a minimal fraction of what halo ce, 2, 3 heck i bet you halo 2 has fare more used copis then halo 4 had by far.

That Weapons Gernades and melee are all still there while The rest of the arena aspect have been brought back.

How is halo 5s Weapons gernades and melee any different from previous halos ?? its not.

How is adding movement mechanics the talk alot of skill to master a bad thing if your a good player you will mast these thing. Pro and competitive players Loved thrusters. Sprint can be tweaked.

Why do map need Player timed weapon what the issue with an anouncer???

Why cant there be Forge maps? One of which i have heard from several people as being very Quake esque in feel and play and plays very much like halo?

And whos to say any of the rest of what you said wont be in the final release of the game this is just the beta thats nearly a year away from final release? with pro halo player helping build the final build of the game maps and features?

OK you do realize the Halo ce, 2, and 3 had Next to NO competion and that Most player the Founded halo( you know the college Dude bros that made halo and everyday game) Are now moved on to games like COD. There is a reason those games have taken over as the most popular games now. Im not saying Halo should copy Those games.

But when Sprint was originally supposed to be in halo 2 Its always been considered and is now a part of halo FOREVER regardless of Vocal people have to say. Its not some mechanic that can’t be balanced Heck what we have now is nearly perfect. small minor tweaks and it could be perfect.

People want to play halo 2 wait for them to fix it after the beta and me happy it there you can play that and enjoy.

and if that not what you want describe the game you want that’s not just halo 2/3

Oh man… That’s funny.

Players effectively have 7 Armor Abilities EACH, and you want to say Halo 5 is closer to Halo 2 than Reach… Guns, grenades, melee, and an Armor Ability.

Halo 5 is more like Guns, Grenades, Melee, Ground Pound, Sprint, Shoulder Charge, Stabilizers, Thruster Pack, Clamber, Slide, and Smart Scope. I dunno, I think Halo Reach might be a little closer to the formula than Halo 5… xD

And you couldn’t even sprint in Halo Reach if you chose a different AA, which is usually the better option anyway lol.

I am very competitive…and I got Pro after my first 10 games in the new territories. I have “adapted.”

The problem isn’t that I have to “adapt.” This is a ****ing HALO game, I shouldn’t have to adapt to anything. This game has no identity.

And you know what the average population of the beta is…how, exactly?

SMH. Halo must evolve. It can do so and still stay “Halo” (whatever that is supposed to mean anyway, nowadays). Don’t tell me I don’t understand how Halo used to be and how that was perfect and we should just go back to how it was; I have been playing since CE, so I know full well how it used to be. And it was good. It is still good. It’s just different.

If you were to release a Halo 5 that played just like Halo 2, no one would play it. They would buy it, and then move on, after getting bored with the archaic pace and mechanics of 2004. For Halo to survive, it has to have a constant influx of new players. That’s not going to happen if it plays like something that was released eleven years ago.

Halo can evolve and still be Halo. And that’s what it’s going to do, so get used to it.
