<p>There will be people that are going to disagree with me on this topic but that’s fine. </p>
<p>I’ve been playing Online Halo since Halo Reach, I played Halo 3 afterwards, then Halo 4. I was better at those games then I am at Halo 5, My KDR and Win Ratio proves it in all those games.</p>
<p>Now if I look at what’s available in Halo 5, Matchmaking wise, some of my favorite modes from previous Halo’s such as Doubles, Free-For-All Swat are now locked in the “Ranked” playlist. I play ranked just to get ranked, afterwards I don’t touch it. Playing Ranked is not my idea of fun because I get other teamates Rage Messaging me afterwards to “Stay in social!”. </p>
<p>I remember a time when “Social” was the only option to select in a online Halo Game.</p>
<p>One thing I dislike about 343’s changes to the multiplayer system is making some Game types “Limited time”. I haven’t seen that in a while but I know they used to do that.</p>
<p>My game of choice is Warzone and all of it’s varients, It reminds me of Invasion, another mode I miss and I’m looking forward to the Halo Reach MCC update to play it again. Even Warzone had it’s moments when it get’s competitive but I like the overal idea behind it. I also play Firefight for a pure PVE experience. In arena, I play Social, BTB, Slayer, Super Fiesta to work on my Commendations and even in those modes, I find those modes Challenging. I don’t really like the multiplayer as a whole because the people I face are usually better then I am, yet my matchmaking preferences are set to skilled based on my skill. Another reason I’m looking forward to reach is that spartans won’t have all those cheeky Spartan Abilities I dislike, Ground pound and Spartan Charge, and the general movement speed is slower which I prefer. </p>

<p>Halo 5’s fast movement is why it feels Competitive, fast paced. Most of it’s modes are now played by sweats, People I don’t want to play against, which limits my selection of modes in matchmaking. This is general feedback towards Halo Infinite, what the game needs to learn from Halo 5 and improve upon. </p>
<p>I’ll probably made a Edit to this post once I see general Feedback, I know I sort of went off-topic a bit but I couldn’t think of what else to type, this post took me 2 nights to figure out what I exactly wanted to express & I’ll probably add more once it comes to mind.</p>

Funny, I remember a time when ranked playlists were the majority in an online Halo game. That was the case in Halo 2, the first such title on console.
And the only times a Halo title didn’t have ranked playlists was extremely early in Reach’s life-cycle (only 4 days) and despite not being visible in-game Halo 4’s Competitive Skill Ranking (CSR) system came out approximately 5 months after its release.

In many cases it’s an unfortunate necessity. Without the rotation the player-base population isn’t strong enough to support matchmaking within those particular playlists. And without enough healthy interest searches will often time out and there’s much greater chances of matches being put together at the limits of achieving balance.

The matchmaking preferences such as Expanded, Balanced, and Focused are basically all about connection quality. Not skill restriction.

I wasn’t around during the Halo 2 days, which is why I mentioned that in my original post which online Halo’s I’ve played,
It’s unfourtunate that This post didn’t get the as much attention yet. I wanted to hear others feedback.
The only Ranked playlist I recall in Reach was the MLG Playlist and in Halo 3 & 4, I don’t remember there being a ranked playlist but it you wanted to play Competitive, You’d play Swat. Then again, Halo 3 I played the least of.

I think that has more to do with Halo 5 being an old game, rather than its fast pace and movement. As a game like Halo 5 ages, gradually less and less people are playing it. The people who stick around tend to be more dedicated players, and therefore more likely to be sweats. Here in 2019, I’m sure the ratio of sweats:casuals in Halo 5’s population has gone way up since the beginning. Although yeah, I definitely wouldn’t mind if Halo Infinite was a bit slower paced.
