Halo's competition

With all the new FPS games releasing before infinite, and along with it, there are some severe counter measures that should be in play.

For example what do you guys think of a game-mode called quick spawn?

Like swat but normal slayer.

Hopefully they can add something like this in H5.

There’s a massive problem that other FPS face, they’re not Halo
I like the idea of a snappy re-spawn but to be honest, I find the re-spawn speed pretty good already.
Whatever happens, it will be for Infinite. We certainly won’t see anything significant added to Halo 5 now.

Agreed

That was a problem with Halo 5. It focused too much on competitive than just making a fun game. Hoping Infinite focuses on making the gameplay fun.

Yeah it does feel like they were chasing that Esport angle. To be fair to them though, they did succeed. It may not be to everyone’s taste but they made a solid competitive shooter.

One of the best in my opinion.

For my input on the topic, if quick respawn comes back, it should be implemented like H4 (one of the few things the multiplayer got right). You had the option to respawn instantly, but witha higher chance of spawning farther towards the edges of the map. Or you could wait through the timer, and your spawn point would be closer to team mates and objectives.

Competitive is a cool idea but i just want them to focus on making gameplay. It wasn’t bad at all in Halo 5, it just felt too much focused. Then they focus on competitive after gameplay ends up being fun.

Dumb Eternal is the only game that comes my mind that can seriously hurt Infinite. Otherwise there’s nothing to worry about in my opinion.

Severe counter measures?
Halo Infinite should have small small playlists as a counter against others fullt fledged games? How would that help?

I seriously Googled what kind of game that was, as I had never heard of it, untill I realised it was probably auto-correct being silly.

Hahaha was that a typo or an intentional slight on the game? Could be either to be honest lol
Ironically, I think Destiny is the only real threat. Now Bungie are riding solo (ridin’ solo ridin’ solo) amazing things could happen with that game.
It’ll never match up to Halo overall but the gameplay is fantastic and if they can iron out some (serious) kinks they may have a contender.

Yeah that was a good system actually. I always like to get back on the ground asap. I also agree with you on Halo 5 having a dam good multiplayer. Some of the movement choices i don’t like but it feels solid and buttery smooth to play.

I just want 343 to see what made the original Halo games so great and build on that instead of trying to fit in with every other shooter on the market. It’s cool to be different, 343. Halo was different and it pulled people in. It was like the greats of Doom and Quake, but just had an edge those didn’t have. Bring that back, please.

DOOM Eternal is a full year ahead of Halo Infinite or there about. Halo Infinite will not be affected by DOOM. What’s releasing close to fall 2020 will be the ones to affect it imo. I also think Halo is a threat to itself depending on changes made and how they’re received.

It seems like people started getting annoyed as movement mechanics became more complex, not just in Halo.

I think Halo’s competitive edge should be it’s uniqueness. No need to copy any trends. People should play classic Halo because they want to play classic Halo.

I haven’t been watching the game release calendar very closely but it’s very likely other games take market share from Infinite prior to, or around it’s release.

Halo shouldn’t try be more like other games. Halo just needs to be itself and it will succeed. All the Halo fans didn’t just evaporate…

Hmmm I like how the spawns work though. SWAT has instant spawn because you can die immediately. The spawns in regular play are the way they are to help the flow of battles, instant spawns wouldn’t work very well I think but I mean they could give it a shot. Maybe if they do the rotational playlist thing like in H5 they could test it out in that format.

I doubt Doom eternal will effect infinite at all, when you consider its release date is this Nov and infinite a full year or so later.
gamers attention spans aren’t particularly long now days

As long as they don’t go out of their way to be like or keep up with other games and just do what ever feels natural then I’m sure they’ll stick out enough

Smh, seeing some of these comments are insane, you can clearly see people ignoring games that have statistics stacked vs infinite yet “infinite will be fine” or they’re just pretending other franchises don’t exist.

Infinite needs to do a lot if things to help be competitive.

*Give a satisfactory campaign, sonethsom not many fps shooters do these days and Halo was one that could be an exception to that. Follow how Halo 5 did it and I see the campaign failing .

*Variety to what the player can play is also a big one since H5 botched that up horribly. I’d rather have everything at launch rather than waiting a year for something I want, cause by then, I may be into a different game entirely that offers so much more than a year old game🤷

*Gameplay that sticks to what many consider Halo to be while also being something new and different at the same time. Reach, H4 and H5 were pretty lacking in that for me, to much trend chasing and nothing that really stood out .

*At this stage in gaming, no microTs would be a big plus albeit a sad positive to have on a game. That said if they’re to have it, at least don’t make it RNG or have it tie into a game mode.

  • I’d even say making the game not look so practical, make it look fun, cool, like sci-fi should be rather than making everything looks so and and plain for the sake of practicality.
