I have been playing arena slayer mainly however I have experienced some of the worst unbalanced games on the planet
I was a Platinum 3 but now one due to stupid matches that my team wouldn’t have a hope in winning
In one instance I came across a team consisting of two Onyxs a diamond and a platinum 3 where my team was two platinum 2s and two golds It was the most frustratingly stupid match I have ever played and it needs to be sorted!!
I am also being matched with guys who get 4-16 kd in slayer which makes us lose Its so frustrating I got 22 kills 9 deaths last night and my team lost by 2 kills because some gold guy got 5 kills and 16 deaths! Thats not the worst part however when the game was over I got ranked down from platinum 2 It was total bull****
I mean come on talk about kicking someone when there down.

If onyxs actually found games, we wouldn’t have to play with lower ranked people…
Yeah, the MM is kind of bonked at the moment. Played a lot of Plats and diamonds in my placement matches, unlike other seasons where you would just keep on getting matched against onyx.
The population is too low for high level players to consistently find games at low search times. If we were running at halo 3 levels of popularity- heck even halo 2- the matchmaking would probably be a lot better.

Its not just onyxs I can play against them I was in onyx but I just keep getting golds and silvers on my team and it just sucks loosing constantly due to guys dieing so much
Remember when players brought up legitimate complaints and all the 343 fan boys said “if you don’t like it leave”… Well yeah they left and now the population is too low to find competitive matches.
The other night I lost 11(or 12) games of slayer in a row. Thanks for that by the way 343 matchmaking. Currently into a 7 game lose streak. Trying to go for a losing frenzy and maybe even a losing riot. With 343’s matchmaking my hopes are high that it’s attainable.

I just tell myself I’m put with the bad players because I’m good lol
Well I am not that good and I keep getting matched up with people that are not that good. LOL Seems to work for me!
to be honest i can agree with this i can go 22 and 10 in swat and we still loose kinda heart breaking
OP, if you’re running Arena solo, I think you gotta roll with other people on the regular. I wouldn’t suggest running a team of 4 because if the MM system is like previous Halo games (and I’m pretty sure it is) you’re gonna get matched up with other T04s that are legit semi pro or even pro teams and you’ll just run into a buzzsaw. But TBH I’m not surprised that you’re finding such rank disparity in Arena, it’s been this way since Reach. I think they need to extend the seasons to be at least 3 months and have the potential to derank due to inactivity to encourage players to play on a consistent basis to retain their rank. I think a lot of loyal veterans of H2 and 3 would be more amenable to returning if they didn’t have to grind for Onyx/Champion EVERY third or fourth week. But maybe I’m just being grossly optimistic.
People play with their friends who may be of varying rank and skill level.
It’s just a part of online matchmaking.

No. This is not a population problem. It’s a problem with 343’s strict/-Yoink- MMR system. It’s not that there aren’t enough players overall. It’s that there aren’t enough players that they will actually match high level players with. This is the reason the best players who got Champions early on literally can’t even finish their placement matches now. Having a larger population would mostly just mean a lot more gold players that high level onyxes would never get matched with anyway.

The CSR system is garbage anyway because it only takes results of games into account, not what goes on in those games.
If a player gets matched with better players and rides the coattails of their teammates to victory, that places them in a higher bracket than they should be and there’s no way for them to keep up in later games. Conversely, if a skilled player gets dragged down by a teammate who isn’t doing so well, that player gets tossed into matches with less skilled players and either dominates without contest or gets dragged down again and the cycle continues.
Either way you cut it, it’s an unbalanced and frustrating experience for everyone involved. I’ve been all over the spectrum and it’s boring to be the lion among mice and irascibly depressing to be the deadweight. I can’t seem to have any consistency in my games and it’s especially bad when you search by yourself.
Social playlists with broader search parameters are one thing, but the ranked playlists need to start taking some extra care. Somebody who goes 22-9 shouldn’t be penalized because someone on their team went 5-16, and that 5-16 person shouldn’t be playing with and against people who radically outclass them. I’ve been both and neither is fun.
What is best option for a Silver… 3 gold teammates with poor connection or 3 silvers with optic fiber?
