"Halo4's style more evocative of Halo:Ce"How?

During some interviews with 343 devs I noticed that they said that the style and sandbox of Halo 4 are meant to be more evocative of the first Halo than any other previous installments.

How is that so?
They seem to be having more of a Halo3 mixed with Reach feel and sandbox to me.

Wish they held to their word tho.

It seems like Halo CE meets Halo 3 which meets Halo reach, imo. Halo CE, as in the weapon selection and single-handed weapons (no duel wielding), Halo 3 with it’s speed and jump height, and Halo Reach with it’s new (and improved) mechanics.

You don’t have to include CE in that. Reach didn’t dual wield either. There’s nothing of CE in this game as far as I can see.

Reach had no DW either like the other poster said.

So it is what I said Halo3+Reach.

Also Reach at least had more combat evolved dark colors.
This seems Halo3 rainbow like .

I think the halo 4 campaign will provide what CE did. Interesting environments and a world shrouded in mystery combined with a great story. Or at least that’s what i thought of Halo CE

CE: skillful sniper, useful sidearms, alien and futuristic environments

Halo 3: movement and jump height, vehicle heavy, map design (heavily reminiscent), art style

Reach: AAs, Sprint, big maps

Really?
Halo 3 vehicles heavy?
Warthogs getting pushed by BR shots is your definition of heavy ?

Try combat evolved , sadly has the best warthog physics even now.

And in combat evolved the pistol was no sidearm , it was a weapon like all the rest.

Its Halo 4’s Campaign that will have Halo CEs feel to it. We’re on a whole planet.

I think they’re trying to evoke that wonderful feeling of exploration that made Halo CE so great. In both games you’re plopped down in these mysterious worlds filled with secrets for you to uncover as the game progresses.

You’re thinking along the lines of Multiplayer they’re talking campaign wise- CE did not have much of a multiplayer

he means there are many vehicles

They’ve been saying that since Halo 3.
“Don’t worry! We’re looking at CE for Halo 3”.
“Don’t worry! We’re looking at CE for ODST”.
“Don’t worry! We’re looking at CE for Reach”.
“Don’t worry! We’re looking at CE for Halo 4”.

Seems more like they’re just trying to appease to the nostalgic players who think anything new after CE has been terrible.

He doesn’t mean the weight of the vehicles, he’s saying that there are a ton of vehicles in the game, therefore saying “vehicle heavy”. The CE magnum was technically a sidearm, but I somewhat agree that it was a weapon since it’s the only weapon used.

seems more like halo reach meets halo reach…minus the AL…

I really hope that the AA’s are less glitchy than reachs’. I still cant stand sprinting and dbl melee and sprint + sword.

IMO if your carrying a sword your sprint should be disabled

Why? If you sprint with the sword and you get shot, you will get slowed down, and most likely mowed down by a DMR, too.

no you don’t sword users won’t be slowed down

I like it though, otherwise the sword won’t be as much of a power weapon as it was before.

Yes, the sword user won’t be slowed down. Sorry, I made a mental mistake there lol. This is a interesting quote from the 9.19.12 Bulletin concerning your issue:

> I think one of the mistakes I see people making with our sword is that now that players move faster with Sprint by default, they assume they can just run at opponents and kill them with the lunge from far away. This is a mistake – you still need to be somewhat sneaky with it.

Vehicle heavy as in vehicle centered gameplay? :stuck_out_tongue:

Reach’s small maps lacked vehicles.
