Is Halo 4 going to have invasion in it, or was that idea trashed?

We don’t know yet. Dominion is a new gametype that seems to blend Territories with some Invasion Slayer aspects.
I hope more than anything for an Invasion mode in Halo 4, but at this point I don’t expect it. It will be sorely missed.
I don’t think so. Instead it was seemingly replaced with a Spartan vs Spartan territories variant called Dominion.
Both teams start with a captured base, and a neutral in the middle. The more bases you control, the more points you get (I believe thats how the scoring works). Over time, the base will begin to equip and defend itself. Auto-turrets and defenses will appear and fire at enemies, defensive barriers will appear, team-colored vehicles (team access only) will appear, along with ammo/grenade resupplies.
If a team captures all bases, it goes into a kind of sudden death mode. The loaing team gets overshields and have waypoints over their head. The “winners” must kill all the enemies before they capture a base to end the game this way. When one of the losing team players enter a base, it locks them in. A one way shield keeps them from coming out until they secure and capture the base. Once the base is captured, gameplay returns to normal.
Thats a quick run down of Dominion. Longbow was designed after it.

The game has gone gold, there is no Invasion in Halo 4.
