In the after credits video, we see Chief being decommissioned? Or did I just misread the situation?
Because no Cortana, no Chief… what will Halo 5 and 6 entail? And who will you play as? :S

I suspect Cortana may not be dead, and a fragment of her may have survived. Just a theory though. Couldn’t imagine two more games with chief having no company (although for the most part in halo 3 he didn’t have Cortana)
As for chiefs decommissioning, I reckon he’s just getting his armour taken off for some downtime or upgrades. The machines used to take his armour off are described in Glasslands where it helps Naomi put hers on.
I don’t think she’ll stay dead as she’s far too important. She’ll return in some way.
I thought it was done very well though. The only thing I hated was the last scene with the didact. It was a real anticlimax. I was hoping for a good final battle. I really hope he isn’t dead either. Such a cool character going in such a wimpy way would be a huge waste.

Agreed, after fighting through legions of tough knights, I expected a real fight on my hands against him, not some silly COD-style QTE

I think we’ll see that in halo 6 maybe halo 5. The new trilogy is probably all about forerunners. I’m pretty sure the didact is not dead. If chief survived the nuke, the didact definitely survived.

I hope so, for such an awesome character and the build up made during the books, it seems a waste to kill him off so easily. Also during the ending, although its probably an old monologue of his during the old human-forerunner wars, he mentions the reclamation is already here, implying the proverbial will hit the fan in Halo 5.

I hope she comes back almost made me cry lmao XD but yeah, that ending was so anticlimactic… I thought when Cortana died that Chief would be all ‘‘now you’ve pissed me off!!’’ and he’s just arm the nuke and ram it up the Didacts -Yoink- or something lmfao XD but yeah, done very well, but I hope Cortana comes back…

I have a feeling that we haven’t seen the last of him. And the Librarian for that matter.
I’m still confused as to why he’s evil though. The Didact(s) described in the Forerunner books just aren’t the same. I hope Silentium will shed some light on this.
As much as I would like to see Cortana return, I just don’t see how it could be done now. Cortana was still jacked in to the Composer when it went kaboom, so you would think any trace of her went with it.
I can think of one way 343 could do it; it could be discovered that Cortana left a backup of herself on one of the Halo rings, probably Delta Halo. It would be a great chance to take us back to the ringworld.

I’m not sure if he was talking about halo 4 or the whole entire new trilogy.
Also, I guess you can store explore the relationship even if she’s dead.
Killing her was a bad idea imo because halo is already feeling less and less like halo. Halo 4 is sooo different from halo 1 (well campaign at least), if Cortana’s gone then that would only leave the chief as a returning character from the beginning of the halo franchise.
Killing her and bringing her back is bad idea because it ruins the emotion built up in the ending of halo 4, I think that would defeat the purpose.
