In Halo4 will the aliens speak english? If any species from the covenant come back which I’m almost certain they will, they should definitely speak english again. Also for the new enemy, I think they should speak to them selves in their own language but speak to the player in english, also it would be cool if the new enemy had a voice that seemed darker giving a more evil/creepy feel.
It would seem more logical, in H3 they knew english, seems unrealistic that they would suddenly forget.
If I remember correctly, only the Sangheili and Unggoy can speak English and other Human languages with ease. However, much of the Covenant can only be understood through the use of universal translators, though much of the content coming through them are precisely literal translations and don’t account for cultural, etc. differences.
On a gameplay/cinematic note, I would love to see extraterrestrial beings speaking in their own native tongue if at all possible with the use of subtitles for our translation. Could provide a much richer experience for those who love that sort of stuff and could expand the universe in a new way.

For the new enemy though, considering their obvious massive intelligence I think they should just look at the chief, scan the hell out of him, and all of a sudden are able to talk to him. Or maybe considering the chief has been called a forerunner for some reason by 343 maybe chief will mysteriously be able to understand the new enemies language. There for there would be subtitles when they talk.
Unless said species/organization has developed the means to scan and record the stored memories/data from a biological entity, it is highly unlikely that one would understand a language within a split second. Though while this is taken from a modern day point of view, and we have no concept of the people we’ll be encountering in Halo 4.
However, it should be noted that your typical Forerunner often grew puzzled at Human culture, customs, and most importantly, language, due to their conflict thousands of years prior to the Flood invasion.
