well a the time great but had no xbl at that time came in at halo3 played halo2 no to long ago and some stuff was good but so many glichs in the under water elevater i died co-op in that spot and lose weapons still liked the game though
What halo game are you playing at the moment?
Halo 2, it basically propelled the series’ canon into a much more in depth and broader scope. While the novelization of CE did this plus First Strike I still thank god Halo 2 ended up having the depth it had. Seeing all of the intricate details like covenant culture, politics, customs and other such things in animated format beats the crap out of reading the book any day. Halo 3 was alright but the main story line lacked depth, but where the main story line lacked in depth the side story shined hard.
tl;dr: very close tie between Halo 2 and 3 but 2 wins in my eyes due to the fact that the plot was much more meaty and fleshed out.
I might get beef for this but I don’t care. Reach. Much more veriety.
It’s an age old debate so I’ll just say Halo PC and Custom Edition (I played with it before) since more things can be done with them.

In terms of combat, CE, because it really is combat evolved.
Reach, it got some really good aspects in the campaign which seem directly taken from the books, and I like it. 
Halo 2.
Halo: CE, because for me. It’s the game that started it all.
Probably Halo 3 because it was like a refined Halo 2, and was the game that got me into the series big time. Great memories with H3; it had all I could ask for in a 60 dollar game.

Campaign?
Halo 2. By FAR Halo 2.
Multiplayer for me though is actually Halo 3.
Halo 3’s BR had the second highest skill requirement in the series, second to Halo CE’s Magnum. But unlike CE it didn’t have broken grenades, and the maps were generally better. That and the BR wasn’t ridiculously overpowered and dominating like the Magnum was. The kill time on the CE Magnum was WAY too low. Halo 3 was slightly too long but it was better overall.
Not to mention Halo 3 being generally glitch free.
