Halo Xbox One Naming Flowchart

Since 343i can’t seem to decide on a name for Halo Xbox One, I’ve developed this flow-chart to help them name their game:

Is Master Chief the player’s character in the game? —> Yes
|
V
No —> Then why was he the focus of the trailer? —> … Ok yes he is —> Halo 5

Your player base isn’t a bunch of idiots… We know the game follows Master Chief after Halo 4. And that’s all we need to know to know it’s Halo 5. Stop sitting there pretending we don’t have any idea what’s going on behind your closed doors. You’re not being mysterious with this little game.

I’m not sure they would bother holding back the title if they are planning on calling it Halo 5. I mean they should, it seems to be a direct sequel to Halo 4, but I’m not sure they will.

Calling it Halo Xbox One makes it sound new, and fresh. If they call it Halo 5 it sounds old. I think it’s a good idea to stray from the numbered titles.

Well, Kazuma Jinnouchi called it Halo 5, the original version of the trailer said “Halo 5” at the end instead of just Halo. Even Microsoft themselves called it Halo 5.

I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be called Halo 5.

How silly will you all feel if it’s called Halo: Reclaimer or something like it lol.

Actually Halo 5= Halo: Reclaimer, halo 6= Halo: Reclaimed. Or halo5= Halo: Reclamation halo 6= Halo: Reclaimer. Not bad if I don’t say so myself.

That’s just confusing though. A subtitle would suggest that the game is a spinoff rather than a sequel to Halo 4. After the numbering system of past games following Master Chief, why would they suddenly decide to change it to subtitles?

I mean that would make logical sense. Maintaining a clear divide between spin off’s and direct sequels. But what is with not announcing the name? What would be the point if it just ends up being called Halo 5. It just seems silly.

To me that would be laziness at its finest because all you’re doing is having Halo and then adding the consoles name its going to be on. Even though just numbers after a Halo game that’s directly linked to Master Chief’s story isn’t exactly creative either, I would still prefer it because it wouldn’t make sense for them to just stopping all of a sudden and putting subtitles on the game rather than a number. Which in the end will probably confuse more people that the game is a Halo side game about a different character’s story because it doesn’t have the traditional number next to the word “HALO” which tells you that the game is linked to Master Chief’s story.

It’s not a trailer for the next game.
It’s a teaser that’s simply letting us know that Halo will be on Xbox One.

For example, if I were to make a video about each Halo game on the Xbox 360, I wouldn’t call it by a single game’s name.
I would name it Halo Xbox 360.

Just clearing that up.

The thing is that they focus on Chief which means the story will be about Chief. Also as far as I can remember I’ve never seen a teaser where they miss lead you into thinking the game is a main game when its actually a side game. (In the Halo franchise.)

You’re extrapolating. I’m pretty sure it was said that what we saw was NOT A TRAILER but that that was 343’s way of confirming that we are going to get Halo on the Xbox One. We don’t know what’s coming next.

Maybe it will be called Halo: Combat Re-Evolved instead…

Halo Xbox One will be named Halo Fall Shadow because numbers make it sound too old to tween demographix

Yes, I am extrapolating, but following whats happened from previous Halo titles its easy to see that teaser the shows Chief in the next game. Also couldn’t they simply confirm the next Halo with a simple Halo ad that doesn’t show any characters or what might the place be and just show the Halo logo and coming in 2014 Xbox One? I think its pretty obvious that Chief is involved with whatever is coming next.

Perhaps it’s too soon to simply call it “5”. Fans would scream TOO SOON TOO SOON due to 4’s poor success.

If that’s related to directly to that trailer, it’s 5 without a doubt.

You guys realize it isn’t a trilogy anymore right? For all we know it could be a mini trilogy like Assassins Creed Brotherhood and Revelations with 2.

No numbers at all, please. Give it a Reach-like title. “Halo: Reach” was a great title. It set the universe and it set the immediate storyline.

“Halo 5” and “Halo Xbox One” tell us nothing of value and frankly are boring. Give me something thought provoking, or catchy, at least. “Halo: Precursors Revenge.” Or, “Halo: Didacts Return.” Or heck, “Halo: What the Ladies Like” is even better than Halo 5.

As a grizzled vet since 2001, I get the appeal of Halo 5. But it doesn’t need it, and it might actually date the franchise to new gamers. I know I personally very rarely will consider joining a franchise on their 5th offering…

Just thank goodness 343i doesn’t follow Apple and name their product Halo 4S, or worse, The New Halo.

I’m pretty sure they’re sticking with a working title for now because they’re not sure if they want to give it a subtitle. Or if they do, they’re not sure what that subtitle is yet. Or if they are, they may not want to release that info yet.

All Microsoft said is that they wanted 343i to announce they were working on a new Halo FPS with Master Chief and dedicated servers. They just wanted to let everyone know that a new Halo FPS exists. When they’re ready to give more information, they will.
