I’m excited to see Halo on Xbox One with it’s second trailer, just like they did with Halo 4 with it’s gameplay trailer since E3 2012. 2014 is finally here, and E3 will begin in June. “Happy New Year to 343 Industries!”

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Halo 5 (or whatever it’s called) will be shown at E3 2014. I mean, why wouldn’t it be?
I’m pretty sure they will give us some stuff before E3 probably around Microsofts spring showcase with a short singleplayer or multiplayer gameplay. E3 will just be the big blowout with new gameplay.

I think it will be this. MSFT has learned from Apple the value of cultish conventions and big time reveals. Revealing the game at a MSFT-sponsored event won’t hurt them or the game profile, and it will prime the fans for sensory overload at E3.
Halo is why I purchased an Xbox One so of course. That being said, I also hope they announce a Beta, but I get the haunting feeling that is not going to happen.
They’ve already confirmed it’ll be at E3. That’s one of the only things we know for sure, they said as much back last E3.

I think this has already been discussed to death…and sadly, there won’t be a beta. The only thing you could hope for, is that whatever the game is, it won’t turn out like Halo 4 on launch…

I’m sure there will be a beta, it just won’t be open.

Exactly. lol

This… lol
well, i think this was an early call, i mean, now im going to die out of patience waiting for june, which although is this year, it is still half a year away

Just like how Halo 4 had one, yeah? Until 343 publicly announce it, then i’m not convinced.

I think there has been a misunderstanding…
a beta, doesnt have to be public at all, it could even be within the members of 343 themselves. But what your thinking is the not so public beta from halo 4, i dont remember anyone claiming that. he said it wont be open…not that it will be limited to an area

What’s the point of having one then, if its not going to be public? Its no different than a regular test, if thats the case…

Every game has a beta, it’s before the release version.
The beta is the stage where no new content is added but the product is tested as a whole to look for stuff that’s not working properly, in this case bugs and glitches. At this stage the product is not finished even when all content is in.
A beta is not a demo for the public, which seems to be what people think. With public betas the only thing that happens are stress tests for servers and a final sweep of bugs and glitches.

Right. My point is, why even mention a beta if the public ain’t going to get one? Having a beta for the employees alone, is more or less the same as a usual test. Why would the community even worry about it?

Because a large part of the community has the misconception that a beta is something rare in the gaming industry. An open beta is rare, a closed one is not.
Another thing a large part of the community wants with an open beta is just early access to the game, not to do what the actual beta is for, i.e test the game for problems.
Thus that’s the main reason why the community wants an open beta, just early access. Which is what demos were before. Early access and only a portion of the game, albeit a finished game.

sigh Silly people. Silly, silly people.
I think seeing Halo 5 at E3 2014 is a given.
Microsoft has their own presentation at E3, if they didn’t show Halo 5, their marketing strategist needs to be fired!
The real question is, what are we going to see before E3?
Back in 2011, 343 treated us to concept art for Halo 4 at Halofest.
It would be nice if they did this again.
But as a rule, I hope that they show nothing of the campaign before release, other than a very non-spoiler cinematic trailer.
Besides, the Multiplayer is their biggest selling point so I’d expect them to get down and dirty with the nitty gritty workings of it to ensure that fan base that they aren’t gormless idiots that don’t know what the community want.
No offence.
I mean, they said no to a beta, and kept a lot of information to their chest before release, and then put out a product that wasn’t greatly received by the fans.
I imagine, even if there is no beta for 5, that they will be quite upfront with what they are doing to see how we react and then they can adjust accordingly.
I wish them all the best.
Halo Xbox One… will definitely have some sort of teaser, game play or concept art trailer, which will build huge hype for Halo Xbox One, and prepare everyone with a release date.
Although I am more anxious to know if 343 Industries, Infinity Ward, and Saber Interactive are working on Halo 2 Anniversary. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary at the E3 prior to its release in 2011… so if there is it will probably be on E3 2014… one can hope?
But anyway, I digress, what will build the marketing hype for Halo Xbox One is:
- The vidocs from Halo Waypoint (343 Industries);
- The trailers at game conventions;
- The Halo: Escalation comic series, which would probably lead up to Halo 5’s story (12 issues at one per month);
- The Halo TV Series, produced by Steven Spielberg;
- Interviews/Announcements/Tweets/Posts on various websites;
