So the title may be misleading a bit but what I mean with a nostalgia game is not a remake of Halo 2 or something like that.
With a nostalgia game I mean a NEW, Fresh and Innovative Halo game that will please a lot of the fans and will be seen as a nostalgia game after years. A game we will remember as an awesome experience and an awesome time. This is what we need and I hope 343 can accomplish this!
I personally think we’ve already had two new, fresh, and innovative Halo games that didn’t necessarily work out so well.
Maybe it’s time to “go back to basics.”

two?
hopefully they won’t go back to basics too much cause then halo would feel really old without any improvements

I don’t think the word you are looking for is improvement. As I would see lots of improvements by going back to the classics.

Despite your opinion, there are ways to innovate without damaging what worked well.
Personally, I don’t see custom loadouts, sitrac replay “kill cams”, random ordinance drop “kill streaks”, and many more of Halo 4’s additions as “innovative and fresh.”
What I went with Innovative is adding new additions to the game that will make it feel like a fresh new awesome game. I loved Halo 4, but there were things I disliked like Flinch and Random Ordnance or Personal Ordnance.
The maps weren’t that great either but I hope 343 gets these issue fixed and good in the next Halo title.
Loadouts need to become more simple, no secondary changes, no grenade changes and maybe a simple perk system.
Armor Abbilities were a good addition to the Casual Playlist in my opinion. It was an innovative new addition to the game, but they didn’t figure out very well how to design the maps.
Sprint isn’t an issue for me, I like the fast paced action of Halo 4. But Maps, Flinch, Random Ordnance on maps and random personal ordnance sucked.

Halo 2 was an innovative change look how that turned out…
Edit:
Change can be good, mistakes happen but they can be fixed
Unless Halo 5 is a game that turns the entire FPS genre on its head, it will be “just another Halo game”. Thus it won’t be nostalgic to anyone except the niche who enjoy its gameplay. By the way, adopting things every other game uses is in no way innovative.
Which, I would be fine with “just another Halo game”, except with the direction the series has taken it wouldn’t feel at all like “just another Halo game”.
I’d like to see an FPS that isn’t afraid to break modern conventions like perks, classes, and heavy aim assist, even if that FPS isn’t necessarily a Halo game.
There’s little variety on the market.
You guys have forced my hand now
Watch this but imagine 343industries telling this to the halo franchise or Microsoft telling this 343 or something along those lines lol
