Halo XBO's Weapons

Here’s a simple thread where you can discuss the new weapons you want for the next Halo game. Here are mine:

Here are some quick concepts I made of the ScatterBolt, Needle Pistol and Sentinel Beams:

*Thermal Vent (Similar to H3 Flamethrower but with visual effects similar to the steam from the Incineration Cannon. Ignites targets and the environment. Can overheat)

*Hunter Cannon (Constant Fuel Rod beam, like the Hunters have from H2-H4)

Pulse Grenade
Frag Grenade
*Needle Grenade (Spawn with only 1 if included in loadouts. Sticks to most surfaces, like H3 spike grenades. Shoots out 15 needles in all directions, when detonated. Needles home in on nearby targets, and supercombine with 7 needles. Kills an enemy when stuck and grants a Stuck medal. Heavier than Frags and Plasmas)

*ScatterBolt (Elements of the Scattershot and Boltshot combined into to a power weapon. Reduced charge time by 50%, reduced recoil overheat time by 50%. Remove single shot function. 3 shots per magazine. Bullets ricochet like Scattershot’s)

*Bruteshot (in Halo 3 style. Replaces concussion rifle)

*Burst Pistol (New Forerunner sidearm. Accurate when feathering the trigger, increasingly inaccurate when held down. Battery operated, and overheats rather quickly. Bonus damage on headshots. 2x Scope)

*SMG (very high close range damage, very inaccurate. Tipped slightly in favor of accuracy compared to Plasma Rifle)
Plasma Pistol (Cut the ammo in half if included in loadouts. Unchanged if not)
*Plasma Rifle (very high close range damage, very inaccurate. Tipped slightly in favor of close range damage compared to SMG)
*Needle Pistol (2-2.5x slower fire rate than Magnum. 5 round magazine. 4 shot kill head, 5 shot kill body. 3 Shots burst shield, 2 shot supercombine on unshielded targets. Projectiles ricochet and do not home onto targets)
*Spiker (very high close range damage, very inaccurate. Both accuracy and close range damage lie in between the SMG and Plasma Rifle. Projectiles ricochet)

I think I’ll draw up some concepts for some new additions and upload them here pretty soon.

What weapons do you guys want?

If we’re going to start bringing back Brute weapons I would hope for a bigger variety. How about including the Mauler, as well as a few new weapons? Maybe a big LMG with a slow fire rate but headshot damage multipliers? How about some incinerary grenades and some fire based power weapons to go with?

They only issue I have with list is there’s too many guns that fill the same role. 6 standard rifles, 3 snipers one which is always a one hit kill, 3 pistols, etc. and some of the new stuff you added describe existing items in the universe like the needled grenade is essentially the spike grenade so why not just bring that back instead and give the brutes a little more representation? I did like the one guys idea of bringing the flame grenades back those were pretty awesome

Anything that keeps my Covi weps in the game and even expands upon my beloved CC has my vote !

The spike grenades always felt like a plasma grenade reskin to me. The homing projectiles seem like they would separate the needle grade.

I definitely agree more Brute weapons should return, but I couldn’t think of any that were very unique. Maybe the Mauler could come back as a powerful 1 shot per magazine room clearer, that could potentially kill multiple targets in range with its extremely wide spike spread and high number of projectiles.

By the way, I hope they include both a Separatist (aka Human friendly Covenant) weapon class AND the Storm (aka Anti-Human Covenant) weapon class. If they were to do so, here is where each weapons would belong.

Spiker (Don’t know if this is the best place for it Canonically, but my choice was based on balance, especially if these are also Loadout Categories)

Separatist:
Covenant Carbine
Plasma Repeater (Again, not really needed in its most recent incarnation, but put here in case of Loadout Categories to be the Assault Weapon counterpart)
Plasma Pistol
Plasma Rifle

These could easily be mushed into one “Covenant” category, but what do you guys think?

One tiny question when you say to keep the NR the same as reachs you mean ofc after 343 fixed it right?

I don’t like the removal of the Concussion Rifle. I just don’t see why the Brute Shot is superior. Personally I prefer the CR so would rather it be CR > BS however I see no problem in having both. After all it would be for custom games purposes mainly.

Not sure how all the weapons could be balanced, but in Custom games it would be fine. I’d like 343I to make some fun orignal weapons aswell. :slight_smile:

Really nailed the new forerunner design scheme - could easily see the Sentinel beam concept as a weapon.
‘Scatterbolt’ could use some work - detail work is good, but overall shape just makes it look like a triangle gun.
Needle pistol isn’t my favourite - maybe take a look at the NR, combine it with the lower half of the Repeater, and then compact it?
