Hey all, I just wanted to share my opinion that isn’t something you’ve seen that much before. In this, I’ll refer to the next Halo as Halo 5 or H5.
Delay Halo 5 until 2015.
I know this is pretty much impossible at this point, as no Halo game has ever been delayed, but I just wanted you guys to think about it.
If Halo 5 were to be delayed until 2015, that would give 343 around 3 years to work on it. As you all know, that was the interval between 1 and 2, and 2 and 3. Although the first two were rushed far more than the third, they still delivered (arguably) a more polished experience than Halo Reach and 4. I’m not saying they were bad games, but they weren’t as “finished” as the Original Trilogy. This applies to 4 more than Reach. No Campaign theater and scoring, over and underpowered weapons, the early SpOps levels being copy and paste from Campaign. The latter was an issue with maps in Reach as well.
What I’m saying is that if 343 was given an additional year to work on Halo 5, then odds are it would be a much better product. Presumably a longer campaign, better MP balancing, Campaign Theater/Scoring, etc.
Again, I know this is NOT happening, but think of the implications if it was to happen.
The way I see it, if H5 is not going to be a launch title, then there’s no rush. Unfortunately, the rush is all too real as Microsoft is scrambling for killer-apps. If H5 were to be delayed, then it’d be trouble for the Xbox One.
Do you agree with me? Or would that extra year be better spent on the next title, therefore having more Halos come out in a shorter time period?
For starters, we havent seen anything gameplay-wise that would suggest they need more time. Microsoft needs their hard hitters sooner than later to push sales on the Xbox One. Besides, as far as we know, there’s no reason to delay it. Why should they? Because it’s not a ‘traditional’ 3-year cycle? For starters, we don’t know how long they’ve been working on it. They started up front this would be a trilogy. Chances are Halo 5 and even 6 have already been in pre-production in terms of story since Halo 4’s development.
343i had a lot of experience to learn and grow with Halo 4 and chances are they’re working on fixing their negatives. They have publicly stated their faults during a conference earlier this year so they aren’t in denial of anything so they can only learn from it.
When we see gameplay and it looks as nice as Killzone Shadowfall and plays better than Halo 4, then I dont see the need to delay.
And a 2 year cycle is the average time for many AAA titles. Including Naughty dog games, Dead Space, Battlefield, Mass Effect, Infamous, Killzone (2 and after), Gears of War, etc.

I’m not saying that Halo 5 will be bad if it isn’t delayed, so sorry if I came across as that. I’m just saying that it’d probably be a better game if it is.
Assuming 343i has harvested as many assets as possible from Halo 4. Then polished, balanced, and enhanced upon the reused assets. I believe the extended time will not be necessary.
I honestly don’t think 343i will have enough time to make Halo 5 Amazing, with the team they have and the time they have. Most AAA game devs have about there size of team, and only one does 2 hear release cycles, and that’s COD, and we all know how good of a game COD is, and with 343i working on HXO, the TV show, and the recently announced, unannounced project, I doubt they will have enough time to finish HXO in time. Just look at what delaying games did for irrational games, it just hyped the game up even more, and when it was finished, the game was pristine and is now probably going up against GTAV and watch dogs for game of the year. Lionhead just delayed Fable Anniversary, so we know MS can delay there games! Honestly, if we don’t see any game play of HXO by the end of this year, then it needs to be delayed.

Plus, work was started on 5 before 4’s release. This is confirmed. I think 343i knows whats up and will deliver!
If they need the time, then take it.
In the absence of information, I can’t advocate one way or the other. They shouldn’t take another year just for the heck of it or to tinker.
They should release when they have a complete campaign experience, tight multiplayer experience, and polished forge/theater. No sooner. No later.

I wouldn’t say halo reach wasn’t “finished”.
Bungie themselves said they considered halo reach to be their baby, their proudest product to date.

And yet 4 was more balanced than Reach…even though it didn’t have a beta…

Questionable. Finished/polished also doesn’t mean well made. Just means its completely made.

Did reach have spawn able shotguns, that had more range than the map pickup shotgun, or had a weapon that was 5SK from anywhere on the map, at all times?

I…
don’t think so.
> , the TV show,
Its highly unlikely many of 343’s staff is actually working on the show. At best its a couple of writers, Frankie, and the marketing guys. Everyone else is probably from normal show-bizz.

Lol sounds like someone’s been butt-hurt…
bs angel said herself that they’ve got a large team with more than enough resources for what they’re working on.
I have high confidence, but a three year life cycle would make me feel more comfortable.
We’ll see how they’re doing probably in an early 2014 reveal.

I agree Jess said that 343i went from a few dozen to a few hundred, so they have a massive team. They can pull this off.

How am I being butt-hurt, just because I’m saying that Halo 4’s weapons were extremely unbalanced, which could have been solved by having a public beta.
It’s not going to be 2015, it is for sure 2014, confirmed in the end of the teaser. They started working on 5 before 4’s release, so bring it! I’m anxious for the story and improved MM experience.
