Halo X1 is Halo 5

Microsoft said that it was not Halo 5, but I’m pretty that the upcoming Halo title will be called “Halo 5.”

It’s Halo 5, no other way around it.

That may have been a placeholder for the trailer, and they may have added a subtitle or changed the name entirely, but we know one thing for sure: this is a legitimate Halo game featuring Master Chief post-Halo 4, with its own multiplayer. So it really is Halo 5, no matter what they call it in the end.

Yes, you are…

Missing a word there!

MS has said nothing. Infact, when they posted the original video on Twitter they said #Halo5 but then 343i swooped in to tell people it’s a Halo game. Not confirming it either way. Why? Likely because recently, Phil mentioned that the new Halo trilogy is now a saga, implying more than just two sequels. My guess is that when it was first concieved, 343i didnt know whether to give it a number or make a unnumbered sequel kind of game. Imagine Assassin;s Creed Brotherhood. It’s a sequel to ACII but it’s not a ‘proper’ sequel.

I think we can all agree this is pretty ridiculous Microsoft can’t confirm the name of a game that’s part of an iconic franchise that’s been in development for around two years.

Well, that whole “saga” bit may be a tad misleading. The “original trilogy” has a prequel and a side-story. The entire storyline takes place over the span of a little over 4 months. So in reality, we already had one “saga”. While Brotherhood and Revelations weren’t numbered sequels, the whole storyline happened in a similar time span.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the “Reclaimer saga” included side-stories, possibly on other platforms (ala Spartan Assault), in addition to more than 3 John-centric titles. As great as a book can be for expanding a universe, it’s still a game universe. The focus should remain on growing the franchise through the games.

The Forerunner novels are a saga, but it’s made up of three books

The thing is, with the Assassin’s Creed franchise, each numbered sequel has had a different assassin in the past. Both Brotherhood and Revelations still had Ezio as the main character, and were a part of the whole “Ezio trilogy”. It makes sense in the case of Assassin’s Creed, but, seeing as how Master Chief is still the main character in this new Halo game, it would be silly to call it anything other than Halo 5, or to have an “in-between” game with him before Halo 5.

I think Halo Xbox One is kind of a stupid name. However I also think Xbox One is a poor choice for the new system.

It’s still better than Wii U

Luckily, “Halo Xbox One” is just a place-holder for the final name of the game.

The reason why we haven’t officially learned the name of the upcoming Halo is because of a clever marketing technique.

The next Halo not having an official name draws people into the lust to know more. With consumers now captured into interest, it is now easier to advertise Halo 5’s details to them because they want to know more… We are dwelling into the words of Microsoft to learn what “Halo Xbox One” actually is, and with that, we learn more and more about the game and how great it will be with every article we read…

The whole generation’s names are symbolic.

Nintendo and Microsoft are doing weird and arguably stupid things. Sony is just making incremental improvements, but not really doing anything new.

Should have been Xbox Infinity

I’d like to think it’s Halo 5, but since it’s clearly not ODST 2, I’ll be disappointed if it’s not Halo 5.

It would probably be best for marketing to make it Halo 5. Who makes a new console and then makes the next game of their biggest series a spinoff?

I strongly agree with this. Since its the first Halo game on a new console, it would be weird to name this anything else than ‘Halo 5’.
