Having seen Nintendo’s new “console”, I’ve concluded I’m still not going to be a Nintendo fan for this next generation, I have no interest in the gimmicky Kinect features Microsoft has to offer, and unless I want to lose my credit card information or play a generic handheld, I’m not going out to buy any Sony products.
This year would have been a huge failure, but luckily 343 came through to save it all.
I don’t think any single thing “won” E3. Halo was more of just a reveal than a big shocker, we already knew that it was coming. If anything, I personally think how the new Ghost Recon makes use of Kinect is pretty smart.
Kinect is still so shaky and has latency problems. I think it’s on the right track towards virtual reality, but to dedicate virtually an entire conference and risk such huge franchises such as ME3 and the sports genre seems like putting all your eggs in one basket.
How can you ruin something if it’s optional? If 343 did make Halo 4 compatible with Kinect in some way, it would only be an option to use it. If 343 made a Kinet-only Halo game, it would only be an option to buy it.
Did you see the new Ghost Recon demo yesterday? It was the highlight of that whole Kinect section. Gunsmith had me hooked. And I don’t even like Tom Clancy Games.
Regardless, Halo Anniversary and Halo 4’s announcements weren’t the highlights. I think it was about all the games as a whole.
I saw the ghost recon demo of the gun creation. I thought that was pretty neat, but the shooting demo was terrible. Obviously it won’t be as accurate as two sticks but there was a weight on my chest the whole time watching it.
The kinect can’t handle a real shooting environment based on that performance.
That was my point. I was so disappointed by the big three that Halo was the most interesting thing announced. Over consoles, handhelds, and anything else.
Obviously that’s just my opinion, and the point of this thread.
I was really happy to see Halo 4 at this years E3. Honestly I wasn’t expecting this. If you were then you’re one of those morons that believe every roomer that comes out of the tubes; the “Xbox 720” for example.
Kinect is just a stupid kid toy to me. The entire Kinect demonstration was just hard for me to watch, especially that part with the Sesame Street thing. It was unbearable.
