343 has been getting alot of hate since Halo 4( understandable, even they acknowledge the game wasn’t very good). I think its largely due to the fact we all want the same experience that we had with the original trilogy. We want to recreate the memories that we had because they were truly amazing. But I do not think that even bungie, if they still were in charge of Halo could do this. Reach was a great game but I think we can all agree that it wasn’t as memorable as the first 3. So please stop going into future Halo games expecting or wanting those same experiences(not matter how amazing and life changing), because you will only be dissapointed. Make new ones!
Even if its hard to do without splitscreen it is still possible. And give 343 constructive feedback when Halo 5 comes out so they can continue to make changes and improve the game. I am not saying Halo 5 will be perfect but read or watch some reviews when it comes out from sources you trust, and then try it out for yourself. After all thats the only way you can know if you like it. No we will never get another H2 or 3, but thats ok because even with the MCC STILL NOT WORKING, it still carries on the legacy and memories that we treasure so much. Good. Those games are great and all (especially CE) but I’ve played them. I have them. I’m in the lobby for a CE match right now.
It’s also 2015 and I grew up in the late 80s and early 90s, so Halo was not a part of the childhood that I have no desire to relive in the first place.
So I’m good with new Halo. It’s flippin’ awesome. Halo 4 wasn’t the best, but I love it. Halo 5 seems to have fixed all the things I didn’t like about 4. I’m very happy with it. It’s like a modern version of Halo 3.
I don’t want the same experiences I had in the old games. I hated hlao 3 because by then the same ole same ole got stale. I liked reach and disliked 4 and im loving the way halo 5 looks and plays.
I dont need it the same but what i do want is it to be as good or better than the other Halos. As of right now it looks as good.
Every halo is a stepping stone for the next brah.
I don’t blame them for trying everything new in h4 though who would? It works very well for other games and thanks to halo 4 343 now knows that no in game load-out and drop/reward system that works well in any type of halo with how its played. Let’s be realistic here for a second and compare vanilla halo 4 (Which vast majority seems to have a problem with) to other vanilla halo’s. With the exception of CE there was NO halo out of the box that was near perfect and some hardly even playable for that matter. I don’t get why people hate so hard on first generation of H4 compared to Halos that had seen many patches to get to the point in which you remember and gave you the strongest impression for that specific title. The halo series is looking and rightfully needs new layers to bring back old player while still appealing to new ones. Halo 5 is doing just that.
No De-Scope/Zoom:
Not a fan of this also but I do not even feel obligated to list a vast amount of popular FPS that do not unzoom you while being shot. Again, I don’t blame them for trying to add a long overdue mechanic that is new to the series. If you are looking at both sides it adds and takes away aiming skill match ups which is one of my personal favorites and can go into detail on this if people don’t get why.
Armor Abilities/Sprinting:
This is a cool idea. Halo 3 scratching the surface with bubble shields, Regeneration, Shield disputers they went into the right direction for a solution to adding layers while keeping the core mechanics. As you can imagine this was never in competitive play for obvious reasons but was still good to add for those who wanted it. Thruster pack not even being the only stepping stone to make what Halo 5 “should” be has and will improve the skill gap between players no matter how you look at it. The more__controlled__ variables a player has to understand, process, calculate, react, and execute to is what gives games their skill ceiling that people fail to see. With the new sprint system in halo 5 one has to take account
A. How long they have been sprinting (for those who didn’t play h5 beta your spartan could only travel x distance before sprint was disengaged and will fail to reengage for short period)
B. That they can not shoot while sprinting
C. tunnel visioned
D. The agility lost for the increase in movement speed
4 new factors all now having to be accounted for with just sprint alone. You can break down the science of each mechanic 4 attempted and really see the work 343 has done to balance each one in 5.
At the end of the day, Halo 4 has the best hit registration of all the halos online in which I can support this with hard evidence if need be along with some of the least amount of auto aim which has absolutely ruined h2a. Once everyone was back to equal footing, 4 brought out some of the best competitive levels halo has seen.

Flinch is complete -Yoink- though, and I hate it in ANY shooter I play, regardless if it’s a realistic or sci-fi shooter. It’s just completely random and annoying.

Don’t even start with this -Yoink-. You can learn how to properly utilize sprinting within minutes of gameplay.

In my opinion Halo is much better now.
Less Aim assist in H4? Not sure I agree. Halo 4’s beam rifle has a huge amount of aim assist on it - there’s a reason no one ever uses the Sniper Rifle in Medal Madness’s “Snapshot” phase. Just switch to the Beam Rifle and let the game aim for you.

I was referring to the only 2 starting weapons that matter. BR and DMR. Also there is plenty of evidence to back h4 with the least aim assist and 2nd least bullet magnetism
We all loved the simple gameplay of Halo. But we can never go back to it. That’s just how it is. Simple won’t cut it anymore. Simple is not bad. Simple does not mean that its boring. But each Halo has to do more with its gameplay than those before it. That more has taken many forms over the years. And with varying success.
Dual Wielding - Fun, but the system wasn’t kind to small arms weapons. And left the BR dominating most other weapons in H2/3. A halo game’s multiplayer doesn’t need to revolve around one weapon.
Equipment - Was a nice thought. Didn’t work out too well.
Armor abilities - stayed for two games. Ultimately was dropped for something potentially more beneficial.
Loadouts - Crushed some of the core principles of Halo, and potentially hurts weapon balancing. 343 has learned not to force this onto the whole game. The closest thing to this exists only in warzone.
Ordnance drops - Once again crushing a core principle. 343 learned from this too.
Spartan Abilities - A plethora of new features, both simple and complex given to all Spartans across the board as base abilities. Although the multiplayer aspect of these things is somewhat debatable, they provide nothing but improved gamelay and fun features for Campaign/Customs and casual modes in matchmaking. Hopefully they’ll withstand the test of time.
If 343 were to drop SAs after H5, something else would rise up to take its place. That’s the reality of things. We can never completely go back to what used to be. And judging by the history or Halo’s features being in some games, only to be dropped in others, the process is obviously trial-and-error. But I have hope for H5 and the SAs. Hopefully it’ll all work out for the best.

Ok, so you want to bring back Bungie then? The same Bungie that made one of the crappiest MP games to date? Grindfest, based on luck, custom loadouts, overpowered shotguns, 3 weapons dominate the rest, $40 DLC every 6 months required or you get thrown in the dust? Also it has SPRINT! Even worse as it has INFINITE SPRINT! Oh my god, Bungie would never fully implement sprint into Halo right?

Lol. That ice cream is good. I just can’t decide which is better, the cookies and cream, or the party cake mix.
post bungie halo is fine in my book. Considering that Bungie made destiny and now are treating it as a big beta for the taken king dlc coming, rendering everyones grinding and exotics to the useless bin like they did all the raid armor/weapons, I’m glad 343 has halo and not bungie.
