I love every halo. their story, multiplayer, and music. except halo 4. I feel it has no place in the halo saga and should be ignored.
I see your point. Halo’s multiplayer has made several ground breaking improvements to FPS, but the game itself has as well. Halo basically defined what an FPS is today.
That is another problem too, people think the latest Halo games should be ignored. How can they be ignored if they are part of the story?

They DID cater to the multiplayer! They just didn’t do a very good job.
The Customs community and the Forge community all got ignored, and what they enjoyed most about Halo has been ruined because 343 focused solely on campaign and multiplayer.

Well, not really. In the lead-up to Halo 4, Frankie and 343 stated that one of their primary goals was to make the transition from campaign to multiplayer easier, because a majority of players didn’t play the multiplayer (I doubt that “fact” is accurate, seeing as they made the assumption that people without live didn’t play the multiplayer). Their whole mission in Halo 4 was to make the multiplayer more appealing to newcomers and campaign kids; not to please the people who enjoyed the way Halo used to play.
I used to like halo because it always expanded logically for every game. Then reach came out and basically blew halo way back in time story wise, while adding elements that were new to the series. In other words, reach tried to be a prequel to halo ce while also trying to be a sequel to halo 3. It did poorly in both areas. I do commend it for making some great features for forge and custom games (invasion/race), but unfortunately that doesnt really make up for its poorly done mm, depressing campaign, and super easy firefight mode. (FRG firefight? Really? ODST was way more challenging.)
Then 343i decides to build off of this mixed up halo game and instead of making a logical sequel to halo 3, they made a new hybrid of reach mixed with several aspects of generic modern fps games and call it halo 4. It also took good features from the previous games out. (Either that, or 343i failed to implement them. Pick your poison.)
I have yet to see halo 3 recieve a proper sequel that matches if not dwarfs its greatness as a halo game.

That is not exactly true, they never said that they weren’t catering to the people who enjoyed past Halo multiplayer experiences. I see why they wanted to make the transition easier

Yes, they never said they wouldn’t cater to the old style of Halo, but purely based on how the game turned out, they really didn’t cater to fans of the original trilogy’s multiplayer.

Yeah the BRs on Midnight is a congenial sight to Chief, but it’s practically worthless for anything at that point.
I am with you , I love the Halo Series and the main thing that hooked me on H2 was the mp. But we all have to remember this was before GOW , Cod and the others. The only competition was BF2.
Despite how great H2 and H3 were , they both had major flaws when it comes to MP. I mean geez, how quickly people forgot about standby , the Noob combo, the melee systems, the weapon spawns, , OP nades, the underpowered nades, the player spawns the dominant vehicles , the swipe snipes and so on.
The only real thing I see missing in H4 is no real ranking system. I like what 343 did with the load outs and specs. But I am just not sure about the decision of capping us at 130. Atleast show me the xp I am earning. It doesn’t even have be “prestige” or reset style system. Just something. I know about 80% of my friends stopped playing because of no real ranking system. I still play almost everyday, and will keep doin so until halo 5. Gta5 and destiny will stop me, but the whole world will stop for those.
So I say, for those of us left, lets just play, kill each other and be brotherly about it. Humane combat ? The community needs to stay strong

I didn’t exactly say that it was just about the story, I said it is not just about the multiplayer.
Yes, exactly the community does need to stay strong. But sadly the community seems to be getting weaker.

That’s because people don’t like supporting things they don’t like.
As good as the story is, the MP is where the true longevity is. I’ll play campaign maybe 3-4 times but I’ll be playing multiplayer years after release (if it’s good). I like Halo’s story, I fell in love with it in CE but honestly some of the greatest times I’ve had playing Halo have been with my friends playing multiplayer. Nothing can top that.
The SP experience should blow you away and really sink you into the game, but the MP should be the reason you keep coming back.
I agree, the single player is what brings you into the game. The multiplayer keeps you playing
I think that since Halo 4 is the best Halo yet, they should go even harder on the cheap regurgitated lore and make room for it by removing multiplayer from the game once and for all!
After all, we all know that multiplayer is a small part of Halo and that Spartan Ops is what really makes the game.
I don’t understand what you mean, how were those environments not varied? Same thing with multiplayer, as far as I can tell each environment is different.
