I have noticed a referendum about the growing sandbox within the Halo Universe; when will the new weapons overlap already existing weapon mechanics? Instead of improvements they create clutter and redundency… and thus remove the unique alien feeling to the science fiction franchise?
It has already begun… it seems we are getting overwhelming amounts of UNSC (Human) weapons in the Reclaimer Saga without any new alien technology; I know from a canon stand-point the UNSC is reverse engineering prior Covenant Empire and Forerunner Ecumene technologies, yet, since when has the gameplay ever been about canon consistency? I believe each weapon should fill a ‘position’ yet each should create a unique spin on their category.
This is not a manually-operated weapon, automatic animation only ie. Spartan Assasinations.- The M739 Squad Automatic Weapon could also be exchanged for a M319 Grenade Launcher.- This is the Halo 5: Guardians iteration of the M7 Sub Machine Gun.- This is not a manually-operated weapon, automatic animation only ie. Sangheili Assasinations.- The Type-27 Beam Rifle has improved snapshot capabilities, however, it has less range than a SRS99-S5 AM Sniper Rifle.- The Type-2 Gravity Hammer needs to have improved gravity capabilities, much like the iteration from Halo 3.- The Type-55 Storm Rifle could also be exchanged for a Type-51 Plasma Repeater, or depending on the faction ie. Swords of Sanghelios or Covenant Remnant.- The Type-31 Needle Rifle needs to have improved supercombine time, to counter the BR85HB Battle Rifle.- The ‘Hardlight Hatchet’ is merely a fan-designation and does not represent any leaked or 343 Industries future content, based on a Promethean Knight’s arm attachment.- The Z-180 Scattershot needs to have a more consistent richochet bouncing, the Halo 4 interation is too unpredictable.- The Forerunner Sentinel Beam needs to act like the interation in Halo 2: Anniversary.- The Z-175 ‘Confinement Gauntlet’ is merely a fan-created content and does not represent any leaked or 343 Industries future content (See below for details)- The Z-401 ‘Sting Ray’ is merely a fan-created content and does not represent any leaked or 343 Industries future content (See below for details)- The Z-040 Pulse Grenade needs to have a improved kill time, the Halo 4 interation is deemed to slow.- The Z-110 Boltshot needs to have a slighter weaker charge attack, which upon full charge, eliminate’s an enemy shielding systems, rendering them weak to a melee strike or headshot.- The ‘Bishop Beam’ is merely a Halo 4 cut content and does not represent any leaked or 343 Industries future content.Weaponry Note:The above noted weaponry is merely only for matchmaking purposes, Forging Pallet and Custom games could feature additional weaponry for fan’s imagination and creation purposes, or if 343 Industries decide to change some weapons on maps. Also variants of weaponry during campaign, spartan ops or firefight could be used to differentiate each faction ie. Swords of Sanghelios - Plasma Repeater, Covenant Remnant - Storm Rifle.

Read the citations… it suggests that the SAW could replace it as a Anti-Riot weapon.
The elites could have the energy dagger for assassinations like they had in Halo Reach (and they probably will if they are playable in H5) http://youtu.be/ZIkBncIAA84
I want more varied weaponry no necessarily more weapons. So I want brute weapons back, covenant, prometheans, humans. Not just more human weapons of the same. I want something to be like what is that and how do I use it.
New Suggestion: Forerunner Charged Weapon‘Sting Ray’ Z-401 Charged/Special Applications Directed Energy Cannon
This new weapon is a Charged weapon for the Forerunner faction. The weapon fires a beam like projectile that is a unique weapon that on intial shooting cannot kill a vehicle yet charging and mantaining the beam creates a stronger attack.
Unique properties: The longer the weapon retains the particle energy beam, the damage it deals doubles and the further it can shoot, however, due to the increase in power and range, the battery diminishes at a more rapid rate… it has an overheat at 7 secs. The weapon does immolation body damage over time, of 2 units of damage per second for 2 seconds… leading to 4 units of extra damage.
> Base Damage (d)= 2t units per second(s) (Maximum at 5 seconds).
> Time (t)= t seconds, t > or = to 0 seconds.
> Battery Power Decay Rate (b)= 1% per second.
>
> Shield Damage= 18 units of damage to down energy shield systems (Requires 3.8 seconds).
> Body Damage= 12 units of damage to kill (Retains minor damage over time at 2 units per second for 2 seconds) (Requires extra 2 seconds if beam is retained constant or 3 seconds re-ingnition of beam).
> Headshot Damage= No multiplier, refer to shield damage or body damage.
>
> Fire Rate (Units per Second)= 2t.
> Test UPS= 2t decrease, (Overheats if beam remains active for 7 consecutive seconds, to which has a 3 second cool down).
> Actual UPS= 1/10 second per metre (time multiplied by battery power, over the range of the beam).
> Frames= 60 frames per second.
>
> Velocity (metres per second)= 10t
>
> Time to Kill= 5 seconds.
> Effective (Distance/Radius)= 55 metres.
> Direct Impact (Y/N)= Yes over time.
I made this idea a while ago… yet it seems like quite a great aspect to add to new Halo games, giving an alien, technological advanced and passive grasp to combat much like the Forerunners.
I think the Sentinel Beam fits in better as an automatic rifle than an anti-riot weapon.
Also, the new UNSC Hydra fits in pretty well as an anti-riot weapon, but I would much rather have the Grenade Launcher back. It was by far my favourite Halo weapon to date.
I don’t see the need to really increase the UNSC arsenal and not use the covenant and ESPECIALLY the prometheans to do so. Guns that do new and interesting things can also help add new, interesting, and diverse things for your campaign. Especially since 343 seems hesitant to bring the flood back into the fps games (at least with halo 4) it’d make sense to focus your new guns on enemy factions.
It’s kinda like the Hydra. Why isn’t this the new plasma launcher? Or some intelligent promethean weapon?
Why did the UNSC arsenal need the railgun when it has a rocketlauncher and spartan laser?

R.I.P. M41 Jackhammer

I agree I believe we need to see more beam-based weaponry for Forerunners…

God man, as soon as I saw the HYRDA it is just another Human “ripoff” of the classic Covenant Plasma Launcher, which to be honest is a far better design and look than the HYRDA… in my opinon lazy designing team, no investing in time to redesign the Plasma Launcher.

This would move the Suppressor into the SMG category.

High skill curve? Lmao, if aiming 15° above your target is skill, then I’m amazed

Yeah I agree, Halo 4 is overrun by an absurd amount of human weapon, I personally don’t mind but for the love of god give some love to the Covenant faction they have been in Halo since day one, having no Needler in even in the Beta is unacceptable.
