Halo Waypoint Web Update - 10.29.2013

On 10.29.2013, we deployed an update which addressed some issues on Halo Waypoint. Below is the complete change list.

  • NEW FEATURE - New submenu on all pages.
  • NEW FEATURE - Service record pages for Halo: Anniversary, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Wars and Halo 2.
  • NEW FEATURE - New forum avatars.
  • NEW FEATURE - All users will be automatically signed out after four hours of inactivity, or if they close their browser.
  • Halo: Reach File Browser should no longer return 500 errors.
  • Halo 3 achievement bar should now match the ratio of completed achievements.
  • Halo Waypoint app will no longer return a 404 error when navigating through Microsoft Smartglass.
  • Tag history link is fully functional.

Very cool, this seems Bulletin worthy for sure. Thanks for all the hard work.

Side note, could this be why my stats have been giving an error code upon retrieval for the last week?

Great stuff! Really love seeing stats for the other games, especially Anniversary. The guilty spark avatar is tempting me away from my Halo 4 Spartan, but I may hold onto it a little longer (unless Mister Chief makes a surprise appearance :P).

Oh, it’s late here so forgive me, but what menu are you speaking of here?

Why ?

YAY! Again

Great update, but I don’t understand what was wrong with letting people stay signed in if their browser was closed? It’s actually quite annoying to have to sign in every time with no option to remember my password.

Please remove the sign out. Its annoying.

> Please remove the sign out. Its annoying.

It really is indeed

Agreed, it’s very annoying.

Why would you do this?

Where do I find them? At the tab “CAREER” there’s only Halo 4, Reach and Halo 3 available?
Ok, it’s hidden:
So I have to go through the following click-jungle?: Carrer -> More Games -> “Halo Game XYZ” -> Service Record?
That’s too much, isn’t there a chance for any quicklinks?

Just go to Waypoint Career. for there you can access everything

Thanks for the new features!!!

However, if possible, please remove the sign-out feature. I am lazy and don’t want to have to input my live id and password everytime I want to quickly check my forum inbox on my ipad. I’m actually checking less often now because of this.

The sign out is getting a little annoying =/

I was wondering why I was getting signed out all of the time.

I’m really disliking the auto sign-out feature. Not only is it an inconvenience to have to sign back in whenever I want to check the forums again, but there is a small glitch that occurs.

When I visit a forum and am not signed in, the icon on the left of each topic shows that all topics are read. After I log in, they still appear as read, even if I have never opened the topic before. If I do not visit the forum before signing in, I do not have this problem–only topics that I’ve been in will appear as read.

I am hoping that this will be undone at some point because it is very irritating to have to keep my browser open in order to stay signed in. If at any point I accidentally close my browser or go too long without refreshing a page, I’m signed out.

My password is a bit too long and I go all angry faic when I accidently close the browser and have to re-enter the password again.
I r so angri @ the waypoint security team

The “Auto sign out feature” is especially annoying for people who have to type in their overly complex passwords on their iPhone touchscreen that is already hard enough to use.

If any “good” came from this feature, the apparent problems with it certainly outweigh them.

Correct! This change was intentional and made for privacy and security reasons. As such, we’re not looking to change the functionality at this time.

Even Xbox.com has a Remember Me feature for sign-ins. Surely, if Microsoft’s own website supports Remember Me, Halo Waypoint should be able to as well. I have no idea why Halo Waypoint should be more secure than Xbox.com.

What complete idiot came up with this!?!?!? It’s ridiculous! This is nearly 2014 and you decide to stop using browser cookies and make the site extremely inconvenient to use!? Get a clue! You’re not Amazon or freakin Ebay. You don’t need super security on Halo service records and forum posting for christ sakes! Xbox.com still remembers me. How could you possibly require more security than they do!? Please fire whoever came up with this. It’s not user friendly, and it’s not necessary.
