Hello, my name is Troy Jackson. I go by DesTroy on Halo. I am a very big Halo Fan and love Matchmaking. Like most people I like to see how I am doing when I play. I use Waypoint frequently to see stats, it is a good place to see them, but along with a lot of other people who use waypoint to search for their stats, I noticed that it is lacking in some areas.
I believe the stats do not go into as much detail as they can. Also, Waypoint is in need of a leaderboard. Competitive players like to see how they match up against other players around the world. It gives them something to strive for. If leaderboards were introduced, it would spark up interest a lot for people wanting to look up their stats.
A very good example of a great Halo stat website and the best I have ever seen is http://HaloTracker.com . On this site, it has leaderboards, stats, and it even breaks down your stats so you can see everything even down to your sniper headshot percentage, or even who you have killed in matchmaking the most. It exceeds expectations. Sadly, it cannot bring in stats for Halo 4 yet because it needs an API for the game.
In the end, I would like to see more of a variation of stats on Waypoint. It would do great and make Waypoint more fun to use. Please give us an API so people can use it for the better of the Halo 4 community.
Stats are the only reason me and my friends play. If it wasn’t for stat pages that make it easy such as Halotracker, I guarantee we wouldn’t still be playing halo… Sounds dramatic but its the truth! I think not giving an API would be a disgrace to the very loyal halo community
Stats that regularly update would be better. Right now I know I’ve played over 30 games and have won over 17 (because I got the achievement for winning 20), but my stats say I’ve only won 17…
They need to fix their current stat tracking first before working on new features.
I’ve been playing Halo since Halo 3 and part of what kept me playing Halo was joining communities like Halo Charts and Halotracker. I’ve gotten to meet some really awesome people from around the world and have made alot of great memories along the way. The backbone of these communities sites has always been stats. Stats are the bread and butter of these communities. The amount of detail, time and hardwork that people pour into thses sites just shows the amount of passion and love that people share for what you have created.
Unfourtanetly without a public API for Halo 4 the risk of sites like these shutting down is very real. the API not only provides access to information like personal stats, but allows us to run community contests, challenges, and other things to help players stay engaged to Halo for longer than the traditional lifespan of a game. It’s a win-win for all parties involved.
If its at all possible I would ask you to reconsider making Halo 4’s API public.
I’m a real stat -Yoink!- and until Halo 4 has a public API so sites like Halotracker can run I don’t know what to do with myself. Halotracker is an amazing site and I find myself updating nearly every game to see how much I’ve moved up in the leaderboards.
I believe an API would be the best idea. Allowing halo sites to obtain the stats, to make leaderboards, challenges etc., gives halo players something to strive for. Halotracker has been the best for me, all throughout reach. I dont want to see another tracking site go down because an API cant be provided.
Having community based Halo stats really helps bring people who play Halo together and build strong friendships online one would normally never have on a developers website. I know this from personal experience as well as heard this over and over again. Please have a way that other communities can pull Halo 4 stats.
I agree completely with this. I think that halotracker and sites like it are what help to keep people playing halo once the game loses its initial flare.
To neglect that part of the game is the same as ignoring any other aspect that you have addressed, and while waypoint is decent it is certainly lacking in ALOT of areas compared to what you would see with halotracker. there is absolutely no reason to keep anything from public sites, all they do is promote the game and help keep people playing it long after its released.
Hello, My name is Charles Wilkins. Online, I’m katkikr (formerly twistedlegends but I had to create a new profile when I moved to Canada to use MS points I buy here). I’ve been a fan of halo from day one, in fact its the only reason I ever got into gaming of any kind. This has always been a very active, very driven community who loves their aps and machinima and everything we could do with this series of games that was unique. That fan-driven push and innitiative has separated halo from other titles and has kept us coming back, to places like our favorite arby-n-the cheef videos and to sites like halotracker, where we can trash talk our friends and compare stats in a format that we’ve grown accustomed to over time. I’m all for releasing the API or whatever is required, to allow us to continue to enjoy these external avenues of sharing our favorite gaming universe.
I firmly support this. Without a means to measure my stats over a long period of time, my interest in playing Halo 4 multi-player over a long period of time will simply vanish.
My name is Jennie, and I have been a part of Halotracker since the beginning. I think having a public API helps build a better, and stronger community. Giving people a leaderboard helps encourage people to play the game to see how high they go. Giving people stats is tool to keep players interested and playing. Even though we do not track every single Halo player ever, we still have a very large community. A lot of people have put their time, money, effort, blood, sweat, and tears into building tracking sites. Without the use of a public API these sites are doomed.
I understand that this is a new game, and there are more pressing matters to attend to, but I think a public API is something that should be implemented soon.
