I just decided to make this forum to talk about the various ranks in Halo Waypoint. like for example, how do you achieve the rank of monitor or administrator?
And if people think post goals to reach certain ranks should be raised or lowered.
Monitor isn’t a regular rank that you can earn through post count; as far as I know it’s manually granted to those 343 consider to be upstanding forum members who can be trusted to enforce rules, keep the peace, etc.
I’m not a Monitor so I can’t say with complete certainty what specific criteria they look for, but from past experience in similar positions I assume it’s much of the following:
- Forum activity - Helpfulness - Maturity - Levelheadedness - PatienceAdministrator may or may not be attainable in a similar way - staff will know more than I do.

I don’t think post goals are really something that will be up for discussion - it’s something that has always been kept in place and always worked, so if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If you haven’t read this, it’s very informative on the topic.
Achieving the rank of monitor or administrator is a decision made by the Forum Admin team when they feel a need for a new forum moderator. Not really a decision anyone can influence. They call you, not you them.
Link explaining the various ranks
I think it would be nice to raise the daily post limit for recruits. I know this restriction was added to combat all the spam accounts that were hitting the forum, but raising the daily post limit to 10 doesn’t seem like a bad compromise. As for lowering rank requirements I think they are fine, forum ranks are meaningless and should be achieved organically.
You’d likely need to be a 343 employee to become an admin.

Correct
Also, as noted above by A Baffled Stoat, monitors are chosen and invited by 343 as and when they need new staff to help out Their post gives a good overview of what 343 look for.

Thanks, I appreciate the helpful information!
It’s worth mentioning that exhibiting the qualities Stoat mentioned earlier in the thread do not guarantee becoming a monitor.

Yup, I’d reckon it’s pretty much at 343’s discretion. If any factor could be supposed though I’d have to imagine reputation matters. How do you act with others? How many bans or warnings have you had? They may not have files on anyone, but 343 folks are always lurking and watching.
Becoming monitor is easy; you just outrun the giant fireball, fight the twenty-seven vampiric elites, and touch the ruby of k’lothryn. As long as you’re pure of heart and have eleven toes you’ll survive that last bit. If not death by electrocution.

Lol, sounds hard. and last I checked, garlic isn’t a viable weapon in halo.
Can a monitor lock this forum, I’m done with the topic and learned a lot. Thanks for the amazing responses!
