Halo Waypoint Ranks - Why?

Not sure if this is the right topic to talk about this, but I have to put this out of my way…

I like the ranking system - how it gives people a bigger insentive on visiting the forums on a daily basis, and getting a sweet cosmetic upgrade for the devotion. That’s cool.

What is NOT COOL, however, is the fact that new forum accounts only have 10 avatar images and 5 banters, as shown in this following link (that is, if it works):

I just don’t like having less cosmetic options just because I’m too busy doing something else, so why not make the avatars and banters available in the first place?

I apologize if this topic turned out to be a (mindless) rant for some of you, but this bothers me. Not much, but pretty much…

but at the same time being recruit means you haven’t posted a lot, and as you said it gives you a reason to interact with the community.
but get 100 posts and you will have 100 images too choose from, and that shouldn’t take a long time should it?

That is, unless you resort to spamming - which I sure as hell don’t see any benefit to it…

well post around 20 times a day and you should be there in 5 days.

Also, ranks help identify people who have been around longer and may have actually spent time discussing topics apart from those who show up once or twice, leave an uninformed opinion, and then leave.

It’s not perfect, but it’s something.
