Halo Waypoint Lied to Me

Two days ago, I purchased Halo Spartan Assault for the Xbox One for the steep price of $14.99 compared to the mobile’s version of $6.99, happy that 343 Industries had allowed us non-windows users to enjoy the game, and the additional content for Halo 4.

Upon getting the achievements needed on the Xbox One to acquire all the digital content required to go onto Halo Waypoint to unlock the fun armor, emblem, and stance, I was met with an "Locked: Please unlock the “Recruit/Prodigy/Powered by MJOLNIR” achievement. Confused by this, I attempted again, and again to put in the ludicrous symbol codes for these digital goodies that I had the achievements for, only for Halo Waypoint to deny me time and time again.

Feeling very confused, I looked for a phone number to contact either 343, or Halo Waypoint, not liking to voice such complaints on forums where they are easily lost. After giving up after determining both places had determined an antisocial environment preferable, I went to Microsoft, calling them, and asking for them to help point out where I had gotten confused.

3AMAZINGLYgood Microsoft helpers later, we couldn’t find a conclusion, other than an unproven detail that the digital contents where only available for those who had purchased Halo Spartan Assault on the Windows Mobile phone. So rephrase, only the cheaper variant of the game got the exclusive content.

Halo Waypoint NEVER put any message or warnings about the content only being available on the mobile device. The Console variant of Waypoint didn’t discriminate against mobile or console in it’s description of the requirement needed. This site confirms I have the achievements required for this content, yet denies me the content that it’s poor wording conveys should rightfully be mine under the current phrasing.

Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries, I have been a long time fan of your work, and the services you have provided, but the phrasing and lack of forewarning that the expensive version of Halo Spartan Assault doesn’t come with the digital content for Halo 4 makes me very frustrated, specially when without that content, the price of $14.99 for Spartan Assault is plain robbery. The game is truly a mobile game that is correctly put at $6.99, but you cannot provide me a poor co-op, and a few extra guns to make me think another $8.00 is worth the purchase, specially when there is content, and availability on the mobile version.

I bought Halo Spartan Assault mainly for a few fun armors to use for machinima, and a cool new pose for Halo 4. I was then told by Microsoft themselves that it’s not properly worded in the description, that the content isn’t available to me, and that I need to purchase the mobile variant to get the digital content.

Halo Waypoint, you have lied to me, and I hate to think of the others you lied into purchasing Halo Spartan Assault for twice the value it’s worth.

For those who want a shortened version of this complaint:

The Xbox One(and upcoming Xbox 360)version needs to allow the same unlocks as the mobile edition.

The co-op missions and new guns aren’t enough to make the game $15.00 At best you can say the additional content makes the game $10.00 There are FREE games on mobile devices that have the same concepts as this game, so $15.00 to me is a rip off.

Enter the flying colors glyph. This one code should unlock everything the Windows 8/phone version unlocks with 3 glyph codes.

edit I believe you also need to purchase the Champions bundle.

You are potentially my new favorite person. I checked Youtube, Microsoft, and everywhere else I could online and didn’t see this, nor did microsoft. This REALLY needs to be in Halo Waypoint’s classified for easier understanding of how to acquire these digital items.

I do still hold though that the game truly ought to be sold at $10.00 on the Xbox One, there just isn’t enough content in it to spend for a system that is locked into an immobile place.

Sorry we weren’t able to get you sooner, Salvanous, we tend to operate on a M-F schedule in the forums unless otherwise stated for special occassions. Very glad you were able to find a solution, however.
