Halo was never meant for ultra Competitive GP

I’m sick
I am Tired
I am Sick and Tired of these BR loving fanboys saying Halo needs to have more single shot guns, Needs to be more SKILL SKILL SKILL AIM AIM AIM AIM AIM. Lets not have this, can’t have that, don’t have big maps, get rid if sprint, put back in infinite time so people can camp. It’s just disgusting.

You know what Halo was made for? It’s an Arena Slayer/objective game. A bunch of guys with armor shooting eachother with LAZERS AND BULLETS and blowing eachother up with tanks and smashing eachother with purple hovering vehicles.

Just look at Halo:CE, A game for friends to get together and have fun. Yes the Pistol took some skill to use but overall it was just an Arena Game, like a lot of other FPS games (But IMO a lot better). I mean look at how many single shot guns were in Halo:CE ONE…ONE FRIGGEN GUN.

Mostly everything else is automatic. The speed was quicker, rockets did more damage, tanks were beastly, plasma did something useful. The game was fun as heck for anyone, noobs, pros, men, women, whatever.

Yet then some A-Holes decided that Halo didn’t need weapon variety, fun, speed, skill on a casual fun level and decided to turn Halo into ONE WEAPON>ALL WEAPONS LOL. Instead of Plasma being useful, players moving quick, and so on they decide to make Plasma USELESS, Players move slower then glass and overall just not the same.

So on and so on.

And now

Look at it. Look at all the “Pro’S” and “MLG” Wannabees who want Halo 4 to just be Battle RIfles and small maps. You can’t have AA’s because it totally makes Halo too casual, Because Halo was never meant to be a fun game, it was meant to be TOTALLY FOR PROS, NOOBS SHOULD BE OWNED DESTROYED AND RAEPED LOL.

You can’t have any vehicles too powerful either, And don’t let there be an SMG or Assault Rifle because automatic weapons are obvi fail and for noobs and Halo should all be BR’s DMR’s and Carbines (get my sarcastic hint…)

People. Halo was never meant to be super PRO gliding power. It’s a friggen Arena FPS Slayer/etc game. It’s meant to have friends over or around the world fighting eachother in cool random maps for points and flags. This isn’t Star Craft, This is not Counter Strike, This is not some kind of super mega important video game that deserves to be ruined by your NEED to feel like your some kind of “better player”. If you are a BETTER PLAYER you will be able to win regardless.

If you can’t win with Halo 2’s rules then maybe you aren’t good. If you aren’t good with Equipment and Halo 3 then you aren’t good. If you can’t deal with AA’s then you are not good. Or at least not at that game. But a truly good player(s) will adapt to all games, do good, or try to be good. Instead of trying to blame the game, blame your self.

Halo should always put FUN before “skill” or w/e it is you people want. Because if Halo:CE was the game you all thought it was or wanted it to be it would be -Yoink-. Rememebr Halo got popular because of it’s casual but nice hint. New players felt welcome in it’s mist, And yes there was a skill gap, but it was overall fun for everyone. Not just the skilled. Not just the pro’s.

Stopped reading right there.

Pretty much.

But it was adopted by the competitive community as the new flagship game of FPS competitive gaming. Does that mean they are the most important players or should even be the focus? No. But they’re just as much a part of the community as anyone else, so they still have a totally valid standpoint.

You hit the nail on the head. Good post.

Yes what they said is still something to listen to. But they should be happy with being able to make custom games with those settings. Not taking out the fun stuff of normal Halo.

Just look at Halo Heavies (btb) there is honestly people who want it removed (in halo2,3 and now n Reach). I swear, You would think “Well wait, why, People like it, it’s fun”. But there are people who honestly think it’s too noob friendly and stupid.

That’s what Im talking about. People who don’t like something and don’t want anyone else to have it. Because like in real life, there are those who don’t like things and deal with it, adapt to it, or just find ways around it…Or there are those who don’t like things and want everyone else to not get them either. Because “THEY” are way more important.

But it works for competitive play, and it is a competitive game.
Of course it wasn’t meant to be like that, it just turned out like that. For the better, most likely.

So what’s your point, OP?

SMH. OP has no idea what he’s talking about.

The dude man: No game is created for pros, but Halo always was a game that took more skill and competition and the game grew more and more competitive and was adapted to become the pinnacle of MLG. No one is saying you cant still have your little SOCIAL playlists with armor lock and a jet pack, but leave the RANKED competitive playlists for kids that like using battle rifles and not dealing with the randomness of bloom or the cowards that can run away with sprint. Halo has just gotten worse over the years and I hope they fix it with Halo 4

> SMH. OP has no idea what he’s talking about.

This, in a nutshell.

I’m sorry, but this thread is just dumb.

Halo has an extremely competitive fan base and has had one since Halo 1. Even on Halo PC people play to win.

So I’m sorry, but competitive gaming is what most of the community wants.

I think you care too much about what people say on these forums. I completly agree with you tho, but people who disagree wont change because of how wethink unfortunatly. Just for the record I thought infinite time was a fun part of objective in Halo 2.

Halo CE was and still is the most competitive console shooter of all time. You need to learn appreciation. just because you don’t like to compete in Halo doesn’t mean you can’t respect people who like to compete. You can dislike people who bash your skill, but you shouldn’t dislike them for being competitive, but for being disrespectful.

Back to Halo, CE was the perfect competitive Halo. You have to udnerstand that the competitive community weren’t the ones making the decision of making the Halo sandbox imbalanced. If anything, they were against it. If you really think that we enjoy being forced to use one utility weapon plus power weapons, you’re whole opinion on comeptitive gameplay is based on a one huge misunderstanding.

Halo CE was the best game to have everyone interested, the casual, the competitive. And I’d much rather have a similar Halo experience in the future rather than what is given to us now. But honestly, first talking disrespectfully about competitive players and then praising the most competitive console shooter ever made is rather contradictory.

And last of all, why do you think Halo was selected by competitive players? Arena shooters are the best sub genre of shooters for competition. And if you really liked Halo CE, then you should understand that fun and skill go hand in hand.

The MLG and self titled “competitive” players totally noobified Halo lol. Funny how they think they are skilled.

They just brought a ton of gimmicks to REAL Halo core gameplay and aim assist. You don’t even have to aim at your target to get a hit lol!!!

I’m sorry what is this? Competitive players had nothing to do with how previous Halo games were made. Besides you need aim assist on FPS console games, analog sticks just aren’t precise.

You know what I’m sick and tired of? People thinking that competitive play is not fun. We all enjoy different things, some like playing at 300% speed with Needlers and others like MLG / GB settings. What we need to do is stop bashing each other, it gets us nowhere.

I am reading excuses as to why one should be considered skilled lol!!! Perfect example of why Halo was and is still considered a noob game lol!!!

It’s time to go back to Halo CE days. No more gimmicky -Yoink- like the BR, equipment, and aim assist and what not. Halo CE is the only game that took skill because it had the least amount of aim assist lol.

BRO YOU SRS?
halo2…

rofl.

Bloom and Bullet Spread were meant to make the Battle RIfle and DMR more balanced against other weapons. Not to piss you off. This way you couldn’t just Battle Rifle or DMR everyone all the time. Sadly it wasn’t done right.

Bloom and BS would have been fine at longer distances. Or if spamming the trigger didn’t give you a slight random chance of out BR’s/DMRing someone. It’s a good concept but it was done wrong.

Players can always run away from there problems. In HALO the running speed was extremely fast, it felt like you were always sprinting. And as people say you could easily balance Sprint by making it when you get hit you get stunned and stop running. (Like when you get hit with a scope you go out of scope)

And yes MLG adapted Halo as a flagship game but unless you are going to MLG events and making money you are not MLG and that’s there own game. A part of Halo could easily be the competitive game. I agree. Ever since Halo3, and Halo Reach I always, have always and still think that there should be 1 or 2 playlists with no AA’s/equipment/new features.

However it’s not that. ANd this is where some of you are not getting my point. I mean those who don’t want anything new in Halo. Because they think that will make it super popular again.

Sadly it wont. New will always lead to better. Inventions have several geneations of change, and not all generations are very popular, but each is a STEP in a better direction. However if each invention just stayed the same or went back it would never adapt to anything better.

This is more about people not wanting new in a NEW GAME. Halo has a skill gap, for sure, Yet regarless it’s still a game centered more about fun and crazy ness. You can have your BR matches, it’s custom games, it’s MLG playlists, But keep it to that.

IMO: Only about 25-45% of the game should be SUPER COMPETITIVE. A bulk should be normal Halo slayer/objective. And a tiny bit more really fun playlists (action sack, zombies, griffball, etc).

And yes Halo 4 needs to have Ranked and Unranked. Agree 100%.

Also I don’t know what I’m talking about? I’ve been playing Halo since it came out, ten+years. I’ve had lan games, I’ve played Halo PC, Halo Custom Edition, I loved Halo 2, Halo 3 and now Reach. I did the custom games, glitched out the maps, super jumped, been a victom of standby, played fatboy, more and more customs and so many damn games it’s not even funny.
Microkiller5 (my old first GT for Halo 2)

My first game was Ivory Tower TS. I remember setting up my live with my friend Rob and AJ for hours in my basement, and that feeling of exitement when we finally saw it was working. And I played too many damn custom games to even count on Halo 2, I had clans, was part of clans, saw clans fail, fall, grow and prosper, I remember the title updates, the fun glitches, the map maps…So please don’t tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about…Just don’t.

I analyzed your points, and some are good, others are bad. What exactly do you have agsint the BR? And why is it so bad there are competitive players? Some players (Like me) are only competitive, its in our nature unfotunately. While i agree with your point on they should let the game evolve and stop saying get rid of this and that etc., i feel you are directly attacking the competitive community. This is a very bad idea as much of the community is competitive these days, and those not so competitive have their own playlists like action sack Etc. They should hopwever bring back ranked and social playlists so that those who just want to have fun can play social, and those who want to win can play ranked.

PS: i love how theres people above me calling it a noob game. Why exactly is it a noob game, reasons, examples? And your argument on the aim assist, its in nearly EVERY FPS game thats out for consoles, so you cant really call halo a noob game for it.

Oh and saying “oh you must not play to win lol” well of course, we all do, but when I say competitive I mean more of the people who think Halo is super skillful and that there is some huge skill gap needed.

Wanna know what’s funny.

I prefer Big Team Battle, Invasion, Zombies and Action Sack. Now some of you may think “He’s totally casual lol”.

Yet when I go into a Team Slayer or MLG match I usually get first or second place. How funny, Someone like me who prefers more “Casual” games does great on Slayer and MLG. Ever since Halo 2, Halo 3 and so on.

So yes I am a pretty good player. Infact if I tried harder I’d be a lot better. But that’s for when I have my next GT. Lol. For now I’ll enjoy my self, strive to win, but fun regarless.
