halo wars was my first RTS experience. it is an awesome game that has probably brought me more fun and game time than anything besides halo 2 and 3. i bought the limited edition just to get the sandbox map pack for halo3 early and wow was i in for a surprise of just how amazing and in depth game i would be playing for the next almost 4 years. so recently i decided i just needed more from my gaming. halo reach was a let down with no trueskill ranking system and it seems that halo 4 is going that same route. MLG used to be about Halo 2, i remember watching USA tv network and seeing them playing MLG halo 2. it was exciting to watch and play, i even went to an mlg event to play FFA, only to be knocked out first round lol, but im just saying competitive gaming on consoles atleast was in a golden era.
Anyhow my thoughts on Halo wars: it is a extremely competitive game online, something that hasn’t been available since halo 2 and 3. 1v1s are brutally punishing for smallest mistakes as they should be and teamplay requires cordnated attacks and communication.
The War is over. after playing and atttepmting to master this game online for nearly 4 years i recently decided to take my gaming habit to the next level and purchase a gaming pc to start to learn Starcraft 2. if you dont know SC is the world’s biggest and most professionally played game. in a recent event the top player won $100,000! and i only see these prizes increasing much like poker did years ago. im sure will see a million dollar tournament in a few years.
So why Starcraft over Halo WARS? well for me i decided that if i wanted to become a professional game player i was gooing to have to play the biggest and best game. you can’t make money from playing halo wars but you can from starcraft…if your good enough.
So in short, if you like halo wars, you really should give starcraft a chance. it is very similar to halo wars except 10x bigger and harder. it will take months to even begin to understand the smallest parts about the game.
But i just wanted to see if i could convert any of you old Wars players over to the Craft. Im new to the game and would like some nice practive partners to help play and teach each other for 1v1s and maybe even try 2v2s out. i’ll keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone is interested or send me a message and we can get things going. Happy Gaming and holidays! MrT
