Unless Halo Wars 2 is right around the corner, I think that the community desperately needs to breathe life back into Halo Wars. The issue? If 343 isn’t doing Halo Wars 2, they don’t care at all.
Regardless, how would you guys feel about Halo Wars being re-released for PC? I’m aware that it’s a simplistic RTS and in several aspects it falls behind other RTS’s on PC, but I think that’s what’s part of it’s charm.
I love the simplicity and ease of use of Halo Wars, but on the flip side there’s a side of complexity that makes Halo Wars so endlessly fun. Now there are some flaws, albeit easily remedied. Balancing issues here and there, mostly, but they’re all rather easy to fix.
Anyway, to be blunt, I think there’s a lot that the PC community can do with Halo Wars, especially if 343i gives modding and community tools. Would you buy it, or not? Do you think it would be economically viable or a futile effort?

Except for the fact that HW is on the 360 and microsoft’s attention is on the 1, and we have no port in sight for the original game to the 1. Plus, while it is a fun game it’s not exactly a system seller like the main halo games.
I’m hoping that skybox, the ones Microsoft has updating the old ensemble RTS games gets around to halo wars after they finish patching Age of Mythology on steam.
Halo Wars will always be a console RTS game in my mind and there is little point in trying to dominate another gaming system when they already have one of the most universal systems in their pocket. Xbox will bring Halo Wars 2 success, not PC.

Main Halo games are on console, yes. Spinoff games like Spartan Assault, though, are on whatever Microsoft wills.
I think a PC port of Halo Wars would be a great idea, as it’s the only Halo game that would make sense. Given how RTS games are biggest in the PC world, it would be a smooth transition and it would definitely create revenue.
Only problem is that it’d need some desperate tweaking and rebalancing. Without that, it won’t last long.
But other Halo titles, like Master Chief Collection and Halo 5, should stay on Xbox.
I would like it to be ported since RTS are superior on PC. Though, it would be difficult because Halo Wars is built for the Console. The original Halo Wars would work on PC.

I’m sure whoever will be porting the game can make it work. Just transfer the controls.

And PC controls wouldn’t be difficult at all to implement.

I have tried to do something about it and bring it back to life by having a petition to bring halo wars to steam.
If you could check it out and share it

Now that Microsoft is no longer focusing on the Xbox 360 and are not currently porting Halo Wars to Xbox One, i think it would be in their best interest to port the game to PC. The PC community lives off of RTS games, because they were designed to be played on PC. Halo Wars should have been ported to PC in the first place. Anyways, I know that the PC community would love to have this game ported. They would buy it and I know I would.
Halo Wars was a good game, not great but good. The strategics of the game is what made it good. Also how it told the story before Master Chief was good, giving the history of the Halo Universe.
I know I’m kinda new at this. But having to have seen war’s, reach, 2, 3. being upgraded to the same engine as 4 really work’s well. The story fit’s well with the hole idea specc of it all. I don’t mean to argue the point some of you may disagree with But out of my own opinion I would have to say it was well thought out.
As much as I love Halo Wars and believe me I played that game to death, Halo Wars is good, on console on PC there are many better RTS games to choose from and Halo Wars would be at best just another mediocre strategy game in a sea of classic RTS games and some more modern legends. Halo Wars simply cannot compete long term with things like Starcraft, Total War, Sins of a Solar Empire, Command and Conquer, Planetary Annihilation, Wargame, Supreme Commander to name a few.
Simply put, on PC there are a lot of strategy games out there that are superior to Halo wars in just about every way. Leave Halo Wars on console where it is top dog not on PC where it would be lost in a sea of great games.
