To me what halo wars 2 truly needs in variation, in a multiplayer game you should be able to choose a species type ie,humans, elites, brutes each would have a special research the humans would have “the Militia” that would be the cheapest and weakest faction from the humans and would be led by sloan, “U.N.S.C” would be lead by captain cutter and be a middle ground for both factions and finally “O.N.I” that would be the best but most expensive human faction.
The elites would have “The Storm Covenant” thats is basically the militia and led by the leader of the storm covenant (that i dont know the name of) , “Swords of Sanghelios” the middle ground but only has elite soldiers and led by the arbiter,
The Covenant" would have the most expensive troops and would be led by a prophet; and would be able to be researched by both brutes and elites depending on witch side you choose the vehicles and troops would change; and because of this the unsc would be stronger early game while the covenant would be the strongest late game
the brutes i still need to brain storm with so yea
First off let me say that this is most likely not going to happen. And secondly, this isn’t true variation. Three factions, all of which come from the same idea. A weak but cheap leader, a middle ground leader, and a strong but expensive leader. Where is the variation? In the cosmetics? Then it isn’t true variation.
I do not like this idea.
Do I need to say why?

Bringo!
Units need to move, function, counter, be countered, serve their roles in differing ways; ways more complex than simply different price and relative Damage/HP.
If Covenant is just a re-skinned UNSC faction, whats the real draw to playing as them? RTS need to be dynamic. Something to look to is Starcraft. There are 3 very different civilizations to play as. Each plays distinctly different from the others. It’s not just a difference in unit prices.
