So the number of posts in the Halo Wars forums has finally doubled that of the Halo 3 forum. However, we still have no support from the community leaders in ways of waypoint spotlights, news, or anything relating to the game.
I think that enough is enough… Halo 3 has had DLC drops and the community here is more active then theres, but no real growth is showing. We need DLC drops to help get more people playing the newer maps, the newer gametypes, and possibly even a few more maps.
It would be nice…
I kind of agree, but you have to recognize that Halo 3 did far more for the gaming world than Halo Wars. However, it does appear that 343 and Microsoft want to shove this game under the carpet and forget about it. If they think otherwise, they are very bad at showing it. I would like 343 to release some kind of statement to let the players know if they plan to support this game in the future or not. Honestly, a “no” would be better than letting this game drift out in space in the way that they have. It would re-dedicate the fanbase, though it would drive out new players.
Still, at this point, it seems that all this game has left is its fanbase and I think that, if they don’t plan on expanding with this game, they should say so. 343 has enough on their table in making the coming FPS Halo titles and speculation seems to be their biggest enemy. I’d think that they would have an interest in keeping as many Halo fans happy as possible. 343 seems to be very close to turning into an Activision of 2010 in the public’s eyes and are indicating to the smaller communities that they only care about the number of people connecting to their servers.
If they do plan on keeping the Halo Wars universe in tact, I’d recommend that some tid-bit of a mustard seed be dropped for the community. It doesn’t have to be specific, it doesn’t have to be vague, but it needs to be something or else the dedicates players that keep the game alive will find another place to go. But, maybe that’s 343’s intention.
I doubt that an increase in forum activity will catch 343’s attention, but I do hope that they still care for this game and its community.
The reason Halo wars dlc Isnt cut is because Microsoft hasn’t made its money off it yet.
Only a good quarter of the halo wars players even bothered buying it.
The reason why halo 3’s dlc got cheaper was because over 3 quarters of its population had already bought it so Microsoft got their money and cheapened it for that last quarter.
Halo wars how ever hasnt even reached a quarter so Microsoft hasn’t gotten its money.
Simply put
more people buy the more it gets cheaper so more can enjoy
I know… It is sad, but it needs to happen so we can get some stuff going within the community. A price drop for a few weeks would be great!
Like a combo pack - buy the game on the HDD and spend like 5 more to get both DLC packs.
It would spur a lot more people in the community to get them both.
You know, a price drop from $10 (right? It’s been more than a year since I bought it) to $8 would be really nice. As a consumer, not seeing double digits would be very appealing in light of the other DLC out there (MW3) that requires the blood of your firstborn son to download.
There’s no distribution cost or manufacturing cost associated with DLC. I fail to see how a profit hasn’t been made off of (throwing out a number) 20,000 downloads. That means that the development costs would be almost $200,000. Microsoft also forces you to buy more MS points than you need to buy anything, which gives them a surplus.

A DLC cost of 500k for a TRIPLE AAA Title is about the average cost.

0.o
Guess I’ll stick to talking about HW, lol.
They can be cheaper, as I believe the Gametypes are… Settings mostly… But Multiplayer maps are generally cheaper to be made depending on the iterations.
I’m thinking in full production things.
COD map packs though probably are very expensive to make with the amount of people going over them, playing them, reviewing them, and adjusting based on that feedback.
I bet an MP map goes through about 20-100 iterations before it is brought to the public. Lots of little touches.
Actually from what I understand the coding on a call of duty maps is significantly less then most halo maps
More blank space for a model to render threw you see
Hmmm… I would think that as Halo uses more set pieces that I have seen in COD maps and there are so many art touches in each that they would be different.
