Halo Wars gametype

okay, so i watched some of the game-play of Dominion or whatever its called, and i noticed the auto turrets, and it made me think of all the possibilities that could come from those, and then i remembered how in halo wars, all the bases had turrets defending them so this is what i came up with-

-1 main base for each team
-2 neutral bases in the middle
-the longer you hold the neutral bases the more built up they get with several auto turrets
-each team has to fight there way into the neutral bases to claim them as theirs
-teams can also capture the main bases, but they are more heavily equipped with auto turrets than the middle 2 bases.

i also had a thought about how the bases would build themselves up, and it made me wonder if you could could actually include objects from forge as parts that build up like walls and stuff, because if that were possible, then you could have the bases LITERALLY build up when you capture them, and they could build up around you like the bases in halo wars.

post what you think about it, and what you would do with the new gametype

I loved halo wars so if they could have a first person game type as close to that as possible I’d love it.

What I’d add is like a money system where u buy the ghosts or new Spartans to go out and u could help them attack it as well.

The thing that made me really excited about my idea, is that it could actually work with the dominion game-type, cause it never worked with invasion, so, thank you 343 for dominion, auto turrets and the warthog(cause i love me some hog action), the possibilities are endless! probably

I can’t wait to see what people will come up with for Halo Wars-esque game modes with Dominion. Maybe we’ll even see some Halo Wars maps in Forge?

EDIT: With how the bases get turrets, I’m really not sure how it will work in Forge, actually. =\ So scratch that idea of mine.

You could actually get player spawns to work on a “Spawn with team” timer, which would spawn any deceased players in cycles of 20 seconds, replicating producing infantry units in an RTS game. You could also lower player movement speed and jump height, but have players spawn with more powerful weapons, to make the game less skill-based and more strategy-based.

A RTS in a FPS I think my brain just blew up. 343 do it.

it’d be really awesome if you could choose what type of turrets/buildings you could build, so it would really be like an fps version of halo wars.
some building ideas:
-machine gun turret (obviously)
-rocket launcher turret
-railgun turret
-barricade (destructible wall that is good vs energy based weapons and explosives)
-energy shield (destructible wall that is good vs projectile weapons. can repair itself)
-healing station (spawns health packs periodically)
-munitions station (spawns primary and secondary weapons)
-ordnance station (spawns heavy weapons)
-powerup station (spawns powerups)
-vehicle depot (spawns vehicles)

I like how you think agian 343 listen to us and amke this happen. Also the spawn with team idea.

I hope they give us the ability to choose where we want to spawn at, because then we could have odsts by having huge player trait zones in the air that give people falling from the sky jet packs until they hit the ground

I this to support Thunderbolt’s idea on the idea of a Halo war gametype in Halo 4. Anyway the game will have bases and you can upgrade them and stuuf like in Halo Wars. You can have small add-ons that give you health, weapons, vechiles,etc. Also a spawn with teammate system to make it like units are being deployed. So what do you think.

Why is my thread here? Oh well I tried to make a poll to see what others thought but it turns out I messed up… I hate myself.

Dominion remind me a lot of End War but in a FPS perspective. Everything is the same in term of goal. Dominion could be much more in a spin-off or next game. Probably the gametype I am expecting the most and probably play the most too.

Oh, and the vehicle spawn points in dominion will make it so your vehicles wont get stolen at their spawn… cause… well i guess thats exactly what their made for, so nevermind

… there is so many possibilities with this game type it makes my head hurt from thinking about so much awesome

that would require the addition of some of my beloved lost vehicles…the Locusts, The Cobra, the -Yoink- vulture, the vampires

I just mentioned this in a thread the other day. I also thought of Halo Wars when I saw the bases fortifying in Dominion. I’m waiting to see how forging will work etc. with the gametype before I start getting ideas for possible custom games.

This is why I LOVED C&C games back in the day when westwood owned the “rights”

I’ve been thinking the same thing. I plan on capturing the base despawning it, if possible, and after it is captured it starts to spawn your base. I also want to have side faction that are made up of different teams. Once you capture all their bases they switch to whichever team has the least amount of units. Again, if that’s possible.

That could seriously be epic! If only we could be 16v16 in halo!
