Lore question. In Halo Wars 1/2 what happens to a firebase/ command center after you are done with a mission? Is it still maintained? Abandon? Do they pack it up and leave?

Probably context dependent. Alpha Base in the first mission was originally designed as a beachhead for operations in that area, but the ones on Etran Harborage would have been evacuated asap
For Halo wars 1 I would say maintained on Harvest since that’s a warzone they’re trying to secure, arcadia I would say abandoned for evac reasons, and the Forerunner shield world bases are pretty much gone, as for GW2 I would say maintained depending on necessity such as a FoB, resupply or watching over certain places for infiltrations since the fight for the ark seems like a battle of ground and attrition a lot of bases might be needed
