I just subscribed to GamePass for PC so that I can revisit Halo Wars and finally get a chance to play Halo Wars 2 before the launch of Halo Infinite later this year. However, every time I try to launch the Halo Wars Definitive Edition, I simply get a black screen that reads “HALO” and then, after a minute or so of this, a gray screen that goes nowhere. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail, and tried opening from the start menu rather than the XBox app, but the same thing keeps happening. Is this a known issue? Or, perhaps, just something simple that I am doing wrong?
EDIT: Halo Wars 2 finished installing, so I just attempted to launch that and had the same exact thing happen.
EDIT 2: I figured out the issue. Turns out there was a “Halo” app installed on my computer and every time I tried to launch one of the games, that would interfere somehow and attempt to open instead. I uninstalled the app, tried opening both games again, and everything seems to be all set now, so feel free to close this thread!
