Since this is a Matchmaking area of the Forum’s, I was compelled to bring to the attention of other users and perhaps get the attention of the Development Team of Halo Wars Definitive Edition.
One the most important aspects of the original Halo Wars and for ANY RTS game is on-line. In particular, Rankings, Matchmaking and Leaderboards. For some unknown reason, 343i has decided to remove this aspect of the game when making the Definitive Edition. While the game was at the last minute updated on the day of release to be now known as a Early Access game, it is odd that they removed a feature that was in the original game and then took the time to add in a different kind of on-line functions. While I appreciate the addition of the newer online functions to search for games etc, the main reason people play on-line competitive type of games like RTS’s, 1st Person shooters etc. is to be matched with others of your same skill and working on your Ranking. With the new system, that has been stripped from the game.
If there was no Ranking in Halo 5 or COD or other RTS games, the on-line portion would not be as popular because people like having leaderboards, ranking and being matched with others of similar skill levels, which the new system they do not allow you to do. Right now, you can be new to the game and be matched against a veteran. Matchmaking, Rankings helped match people better. I am sure both can work, but this new system is not good for the game and the long term success of the game.
So for anyone from 343i reading, please consider adding this basic function back into the game.
Thanks!
